the air sensor yur thinking of is usually found out front of the car on the post that supports the hood latch betwween the radiator assemblies and the oute decorative grill. go to your auto parts store like autozone and ask for the ambient air temp sensor. then if they can, ask for a diagram of its location. Its real easy to replace usually one bolt and one wire clip. Autozone has /offers these do it yourself repar guides that can help you .

This is the tech info on how to test the O2 sensor:
Many intermittent open or shorted circuits come and go with harness and connector movement caused by vibration, engine torque, bumps and rough pavement, etc.
Identifying HO2S1 sensor connector–3.1L, 3.4L, 3.5L, 3.8L (with NU3) and 3.9L engines
Identifying HO2S2 sensor connector–3.1L, 3.4L, 3.5L, 3.8L, 3.9L and 5.3L engines
Identifying HO2S1 sensor connector w/o NU3–3.8L engine
Identifying HO2S1 sensor connector–5.3L engine

well does the key go in does it turn to the start pos? if the dash dost power up its because the switch is bad if it will power up but not start it can be becuse of the resitor chip depends on what is going on if you cant get power its becuse of the switch
