What is the mileage to replace timing chain on 2001 Surburban with 5.3 l engine

Timing chains usually last the lifetime of the engine, unlike belts. If noisy, change it otherwise if it seems OK and the engine has been serviced regularly, leave alone.

I have a 2000 Ford Expedition with 157,000 miles. Do I need to be concerned about replacing the timing chain?

no you should not worry about changing timing. unless its not starting or something is really wrong that points you to the timing chain. i have 250,000 on my f150 never had no problems with timing chain. maybe a coil pack or sparkplug but no timing chain.

How to change a distributor on a 1990 toyota tercel and maybe timing chain

I doubt you machine has a timing chain, it will be a belt. To replace a timing chain means just about a full engine tear down. To replace the distributor. Place the engine at TDC and mark the position of the distributor rotor, also line a fixed mark on the old distributor with a position on the engine. Do not turn the engine at all. Remove the old distributor and install the new one aligning the body marks and ensuring that the rotor is pointing in exactly the same position. Once all the wires are back and the cap is replaced it should hardly be necessary to re-time the engine.

How to replace mercedes e320 1997 timing chain

This is beyond the casual do it yourself job. If the timing chain has failed, this is extremely rare as it is a double chain, there will be associated problems with timing and potential damage to the valve gear and piston crowns if it failed whilst the engine was running. This all adds up to an engine strip down and rebuild. Given the time and cost of parts it maybe cheaper to source a good second hand or reconditioned engine unit or perhaps even getting a replacement well loved Merc. Which ever route taken it sounds like a trip to local garage for an appraisal and price estimate would be the best first step. Fingers crossed it could be simple job of adjustment of the existing chain if still intact. If the old chain is intact but cannot be adjusted due to excessive wear it is possible to 'pull' a new chain through the engine using the old chain. Again the guys at Mercedes stealerships are pretty good at this sort of thing although pricey.

2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara cranks but won't start

Most likely your timing chain.
This is a major problem 99 -05 V6 GV.
The Timing chain tensioner failed.
When the chain breaks it destroys the engine.
Unfortunately is an "Interference" engine.
This and the rear main seal are the big problems with these cars.

This starting issue sounds like either the ignition timing is way off, or the cam timing is, the whinning sounds like the timing chain may have been replaced with a non silent type chain (plastic cam gear teeth), maybe the onwer got this wrong when he installed it and the cam timing is off.
