SOURCE: fuel pump NOT working ,fuel pump is OK,but no voltage

Check the voltage with someone cranking the engine. The fuel pump relay is incorperated in the FI relay located under right center of dash. It is a metal relay usually bolted to the floor near the ecm. Double check all the fuses inside and out

SOURCE: Where is the fuel pump relay on a 98 mirage

There is a fuel pump relay forward of the shifter (MT) behind the center console panel. There should be two together, the lower relay is the MPFI relay.

There is also one directly in front of a control unit, flow the shifter cables and you should see it (fuel pump relay 2) (mt)

On automatics the fuel pump relay is behind the glove box on the right side.

I just looked at a wiring diagram of the fuel controls for this model: there is no fuel shut-off switch in the wiring. It's pretty straight forward, typical fuel pump controls: the fuel pump relay is in the under-hood power distribution center. When this relay is turned on, power is sent to the fuel pump, nothing else is in the path of the hot wire to the pump module so it (the pump) should be working.

So if pump is not on, you can diagnose the wiring right here at the fuel pump relay. First you verify the power feed for the pump is available at the relay. (One terminal at the relay will have battery voltage with key off. If you pull the relay out and use a test light, one terminal position will be hot.) Next you verify the relay is working, sending power to the fuel pump in the gas tank. You do this by having someone cycle the key to on, while you hold a finger on the relay (it's back in place) to feel it click on. You should feel it, maybe even hear it, the relay will energize every time the key is turned to on, and this is what sends power to the fuel pump.` If it all works, and the pump is not on, the pump probably needs replacing. If the pump relay is not clicking on, that's a wiring hassle, including the wire to the engine computer. The pcm is what controls the relay turning on.
Do you know if the fuel pump has ever been replaced in the car? If it is original, it has been a good long run.

No fuel getting to motor so no start. replaced pump fuses and relays all good. there is spark

you will need to check the plug to the pump on top of the tank. check for voltage. then if no volts trace the wires back. also you should check the relay have some one at the relay listening to see if it clicks when you turn the key. no click no volts no volts may be a warn out relay, if it buzzes change it.

My car will not start it cranks but will not turn on. So far I have changed the crank sensor I also have no spark to coil packs or spark plugs Fuel pump does not turn on when I turn the key. What is the...

Begin by checking fuses. Ignition, efi, fuel pump fuses. When key turned to on, do the warning lights and gauges work? That verifies switch has power and is sending power out. With key on, the coil primary wire to coil packs should have voltage.

No spark and no gas? Fuel pump fuse good? I think I would use a test light or multimeter to check that fuel pump fuse terminal has power to it with key on. If that's good, pull connector off at fuel tank and check for a voltage signal on fuel pump wire when the engine is cranking-if good signal, fuel pump needs taken out for replacement or inspection. If no signal check that fuel pump relay has power to it. With key off, pull the relay and check that one terminal has power to it-the feed wire for the pump. If no power signal at all, check maxi fuses or fusible links for a failure.

Fuel pump is not working

Check the fuse and the fuel pump relay. If fuse is good, hold a finger on the relay while someone turns the key to on. If no "click", the circuit must be investigated for a problem. Pull the relay out and probe the terminals the relay plugs into. With key on, one terminal should have a constant voltage-that is the battery feed for the pump. When cranking the engine, another terminal should have voltage-that is the computer signal to coil relay, turning the coil on, and letting power pass to the pump.

Alternatively, you could check for power at the fuel pump connector while the engine is being cranked. If you have a volt reading then (or a test light that lights up), the pump must be bad and needs taken out to see. If no power there when cranking engine, go back to the relay and check for power as outlined.

Getting no fuel to the engine. some one zero out the computer. could not read the codes if any.

Fuel pump? If you don't hear it, you need to check if the pump has failed, or if there's a problem in the circuit to the pump. To check, pull off the fuel pump tank connector at the gas tank, and check for power on the fuel pump wire while a helper is cranking the engine over. If you have 12 volts there (can use a voltmeter or a test light), the pump has failed and need replacing. If no power when cranking engine, the fuel pump circuit will have to be diagnosed. You will need a wiring diagram of the pump circuit. It is a fused circuit, so first check the fuse. If fuse is good, find the fuel pump relay and hold a finger lightly on it while helper turns the key to on. The relay should click when key is turned to on. If it does, pull the relay out and check that the power feed for the pump is available on one terminal where the relay plugs in. Use the test light probe and check all terminals-one should be "hot at all times". If none have a signal (key is OFF), then power is lost between battery and that relay terminal. From here on, you will need a wiring diagram...Good luck.

Electrical prblem

There would be a fuel pump fuse, either under dash or under hood. Check that fuse, use the test light to see if fuse has power. If not, then it might be a fusible link or maxi-fuse that feeds the fuse panel. If fuse has power with key on, pull the relay, and use the test light and probe relay terminals, key off. One terminal should be hot at all times. If not, check for power loss between battery and relay terminal-possibly a maxi-fuse or fuse link.
If relay does have power to terminal, quickly check other terminals while someone turns key to on-for about 2 seconds, another terminal should show power-this would be signal from computer to turn the relay on to prime the lines and fuel rail. If you have that, plug relay in and cycle key. Does relay click? If yes, relay is working and problem may be at fuel pump connector. If relay is not working, but you have power to it, and the short signal from computer is there, then check the relay's coil side ground. Computer signals the coil side and the signal goes to ground from relay coil side.
Pull the relay and use a jumper wire from relay's hot terminal to fuel pump terminal-the wire to pump from the relay. If pump comes on, the problem is right there at the relay-either no signal from computer or the relay coil's ground is lost. If pump does not come on, again check connector at pump-that or the wire to pump[ has a problem.

You should have two sources of power, a ground from the computer, and the circuit going to the pump.
Do you have both sources of power when the key switch is turned to start ?

If relay worked when placed in another vehicle you must have a wiring problem. trace wires from fuse block to relay checking for corrosion or short.

1995 nissan truck 4wd 5 speed standard with 3.0. wiring harness brunt between computer and fuel pump. change wiring harness, change the fuel pump. still fuel pump dosen't work when keys is truned on

Hi, if the wire to the computer was burned, the computer is probably bad. You can verify this by interrogating the fuel pump relay socket. What you do is pull the relay out, connect a 12 volt test light clip to battery positive, turn the key on, and probe the relay socket. There should be 2 terminals in the socket that light the test light. One of these goes to the pump and would be a dimmer light than the other, which is the relay coil ground signal from the computer. If you don't get this signal at the relay socket, it is possible to bypass the computer to see if the truck will run. What you would do is cut the red/blue wire from the computer to the relay and connect the relay side of the cut wire to chassis ground. This will make your pump run whenever the key is on.
Please let me know if you have questions.
