Question about Volvo 740
Can't get the pin(shift rod bolt?) out of manual shifter so that I can remove the chrome sleeve. Should it come out easily or does it require tapping it out? Seems to have a rubber boot or 'gasket' around it. Thanks.

SOURCE: Shift lever stuck in Park
is the car paked on a level ground? if not and the car is slightly sloping backwards. you need to get someone to give it a little push while you attempt to move the gear to D position.

The lower shifter boot is attached to the transmission by 3 10mm bolts. You will need to remove to center consoule and the upper shift boot that attaches to the car to be able to remove the lower boot. Then you can replace the lower boot.

Cut band clamp. use tie wrap. Special tool to remove inner tie rod. Autozone or others have them to rent. Must align after replacement
