Try the windscreen replacement shops as they carry a range of glass other than windscreens. Remember that no car maker makes glass but uses glass manufacturers to supply the glass used in a car so they can sell it for less as it does not have a car brand name on it

SOURCE: replacing rear window in 1995 Dodge Neon

Ummm yeah. Hes pretty much right on all of it. ALL neons have defogger rear windows. They do not come without them, thats how they all are. as for the windshield urethane, that works wonders. Theres also a roll of this stuff that you outline the window frame in, then let it sit in the sun and heat up, then you place the window in it. You only get one chance tho cos once the windows place, your not gonna be able to pop it back out haha. I'm not too sure what this stuff is called, but if you goto your local auto parts store, they will know what your talking about.

Your local dealer should have a replacement 'tab' which can sometimes be soldered back onto the glass. Sometimes it just doesn't work and the glass will need to be replaced. I have done many of these, it is a 50/50 shot

Its called the rear glass latch or rear window latch. It would be available thru a dodge dealership, but obviously expensive. You may try a large parts store like Autozone or Pep Boyz. The third alternative is to call auto wreckers in your area. Its the same latch from 2000-2005 Liberty's. It isn't that hard to remove. The rear door panel needs to be removed, then the latch is attached with 2 bolts, and an electric cable.

You could call an auto wrecker or glass installer. I don't think very many cars have the exact same window. It's certainly worth a few calls to find out.

it is an easy job if you have the proper tools. O'Reily auto parts does rent the tools you need. You have to pull off the door panel to get to the window. It is just a mater of getting the proper glass, dropping it in ang fitting it in place. Someone not familiar with this will probable take several hours to do it yourself. But it will save you alot of money.

During the restoration of our '92 Lesabre, we had an auto glass guy come out to remove & hopefully replace the same glass in the rear window section(the window trim had disintegrated and we bought new stuff to replace it with, but it wouldn't fit unless the window was removed).
What was discovered when the window was removed... was that the defroster interface on the sides of the glass was basically disconnected from the glass: the solder contact patch where the power & ground wires interfaced with the defrosting wires was corroded. It fell off once it was pulled on. In our case we had the whole rear window replaced.

What may be possible for you to do is pull back/off the rear pillar trim that covers the defrost wire & connectors and re-melt the solder with a 80-150 watt soldering iron(assuming that is where the problem is). I suppose, before buying and/or firing up the soldering iron, get the rear trim that covers the left & right edges of the rear-glass removed to find out IF the connectors & the long vertical strip they attach to are indeed attached to or detached from the glass. Oh duh, the vertical strip that the power wires connect to on either side run from top to bottom of the defroster array and are the portions that solder to the glass.

If it results in soldering, I'd suggest you use either a resin/flux core electrical solder or use a flux paste brushed over the solder contact areas & use solid electrical solder.

If I wasn't so busy with other parts of the car I would have gone after the soldering myself... but being as pre-occupied as I was that's why we opted to have the whole window(which includes the defrosting array & connectors) replaced.
I hope things work out for you regarding this... shoot me back if you need any other info/follow-up.

The glass of our sunroof broke. How do we replace

Hi there;

Hey broken glass in the sunroof is not as big of a deal as you might think. The glass is available from Lexus & concidering where it is coming from it isn't that expensive. When you get the new piece of glass you'll see how it is bolted on. You simply rmove the trim around the glass mount with a flat pry bar & undo the mounting bolts, noting the alignment shims befor you remove the old glass mounts & be sure to put them back in where they come from. Take you time & pay close attention to those things & you will be able to change it with out an issue!
P.S.; you may also be able to find the glass from a local auto wreckers for a fraction of the dealer price.
Good Luck Hope this helps.
Farrout!
