Changing the front transmission seal on my 93 geo prizm what kind of seals and gaskets will i need

A/t it is. 3sp or 4sp not the same. but R is same.

the shift'er moves cable and the other end fits to the side
of the a/t manual valve. so, does this far end move to true reverse.?
the cable is 1 to 1. and must move to Reverse actual. at the transmission, end....
do not get hurt testing parts engine running,.do not. get expert help, not seen here.

if only reverse fails,then transmission needs service.
and the manual valve on side of box is in Reverse detent felt, then the trans is bad.
if all this is confusing (as is normal trans is complex) then get car serviced.?

in shop we make sure levels ok
then shift to reverse see that the box is really in reverse (this is called the reverse stall test failing and step, 2 is line pressure tests,
in drive and reverse and the latter fails.
trans is toast.

cam and front crank seals.. sometimes the rocker cover gasket leaks in under there as well

The rear transmission seal can be changed without pulling the transmission. The front seal requires the transmission to be separated from the engine. To change the rear seal you take off the drive line and use a seal puller. Head gaskets need to be replaced if you find water in the oil, have an overheating engine that runs rough or if the coolant smells like gas. One way to tell is to do a compression check on all cylinders.

Depending on the mileage, worn piston rings are the most likely cause. There are also numerous places on these engines that leak - valve cover gasket, distributor seal, cam seal and oil pan are the most common. You can try a heavier weight oil the next oil change. If you're current using 10W30, try switching to 10W40.

You'll need to remove the transmission, the remove the torque coverter from the transmission, the seal is mounted in the transmission where the torque converter goes in. The seal is $10-$20. I a garage may charge between 2 and 4 hours of labor.

Don't touch this vehicle,the airbag has been deployed and a new whell attached without resetting the code.

This is the same as a Toyota Corolla. Plan on replacing the timing belt and all associated parts. The problem is either the Camshaft or Crankshaft seals. Timing cover seal does NOT keep oil in the engine. The oil getting on the timing belt WILL cause premature failure.

you'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. Then pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything.
