Growling from the front, becomes more apparent when slowing down. I tried shifting the car into neutral when slowing down and there was no change in the growling noise.

SOURCE: there is a growling noise in the front end in

Sounds like a possible motor mount loose or broken, but hard to say.
Quick test:
Open hood, put car in drive, hold foot tight on brake pedal don't let off the brakes, accelerate slightly, if the mount is broken engine should lift up on the right side looking out the drivers side windshield, and show signs of the fan blades hitting the black plastic fan shroud in front of the radiator.
A car lift is the easiest and safest way to gain access for replacement of a broken engine mount.

While i am driving my 2001 e-350 goes into neutral what is wrong

Though it will not harm your transmission to shift into Neutral while your vehicle is in motion, the additional wear on your brakes by leaving the transmission in Drive will be negligible over the life of the brake pads. It is that minor. NEVER, EVER go into neutral while slowing down to a stop, for 3 reasons: 1.

My Honda CRV shift to all gears, once i slow down and gears shifts out of 4th, it only shift up to max 3rd. I will need to park and off and restart the car to get up to 4th gear.

The shift solenoid pairs, usually 2 pairs, are very sensitive and get sticky with age. take them off and clean them and test them with a good 12v battery. The plunger should move an 1/8th inch with a good snap. If one is stuck whack it face down on a clean piece of paper, blow it out with a compressor and try again. Solenoids can cause starting out in the wrong gear, missing gears, creep in neutral, bad downshifting, shudder, etc... Lower front solenoids are under a metal cap with 3 10mm bolts. Passengers side.

My 1997 Chevy Cavalier automatic transmission is stuck in neutral and the shifter just glides from park, won't engage in any gears.

If the shift handle moves extremely freely (more than normal), changes are that the shift cable has become disconnected from the shift lever. This would explain the indicator not moving out of neutral.
You will need to access the shift lever by removing the console cover. Once you access the shifter check the cable connection to the level. If the cable is broken, it will need replacement. If the cable clip has broken or fallen off, it will need to be reattached.

1999 Chevy Suburban stuck in 4wd

Hi Dale, Sometimes the front diff becomes wound up. I am not saying this is the problem with your vehicle but what I'm about to suggest may work as it often does with other four by fours. Make sure you have a clear space to drive the vehicle backwards and forwards at a slow speed. As you do so select the two high position on the selector. You may need to reverse and go forward several times. Hope it works for you. Regards John

you cannot run your truck normally in 4x4 low!!!! the low is designed to go slow slow.try shifting into neutral gear on column tap the high 4x4 then shift to reverse, back up 15feet then shift to drive.it should go into high 4x4 then if you want to go back to 2wheel high shift to neutral tap the 4x4 high until the light goes off, shift to reverse and back up 15feet then shift to drive and the 4wheel drive lights should all be off. then you'll be in 2x2 rear wheel drive. thank you for choosing fixya.com

1988 chev trans takes high rpm to shift from 1st to 2nd and some times it wont down shift when you slow down and hit the gas again

Check the adjustment of the transmission T.V. cable. Sometimes they also stick. Try driving it at 30. Shift to Neutral, stab the gas pedal to the floor quickly a couple of times. Then shift back to drive. Then see if it shift normal.

Goes into neutral and then shifts hard into 1st on slowdown

It sounds like your input clutch seals are rolling. Is the check engine light on. It could also be the pressure control solenoid could be causing the problem aswell
