Question about Honda CR-V
I changed air filter on 2003 honda crv. car shift at normal rpm in 1st gear. it changes to 2nd gear at about 2500 rpm and stays there. it changes to 3rd gear at 3500 rpm and stays there. so it appears that the car is under load and racing. no check engine light has come yet.

Check both O2 sensor(s) and catalytic coverter.. P0420 means catalyst below threshold. Also check the sensor at the transmission and solenoid.

What you need to check is the transmission release bearing because if there is a clearance on the release bearing you will encounter this problem and also check the transmission oil.

Dont think they changed it yet but the older chrysler units had a rod that went from the throttle linkage to the transmission (maybe a cable now)...If you lengthen the rod it will increase shift pressure and give you an earlier shift.
