SOURCE: could someone tell me how to remove the fan clutch on 88 bronco 2

Leave the belt on, and put a screwdriver or other flat metal object across two of the bolt heads that are sticking out on the pulley to hold back. Make sure that you have sprayed the nut and threads with penetrating oil and let sit for five minutes before attempting. You may have to bump the wrench with a hammer while you are holding the pulley back with the other hand. The only other way is to use a really large pair of channel locks to hold back the pulley. The channel lock brand sells a plier called the "Big Azz". I suppose a large pipe wrench would do also if you could fit it in there.

How to remove the clutch fan on a 2004 dodge ram

autozone usually has a fan clutch loaner tool set, however in a pinch a strap wrench can hold the pulley and then you have room to fit a decent size crescent wrench. In a hurry you can use an air hammer on an edge (of the nut) going counterclockwise, they also make a neat tool that does basically the same thing, might take a few tries but you will get it.

Remove clutch fan dodge dakpta 4.7

This one does require a tool to loosen the fan clutch from the water pump shaft. Part of the tool holds the pulley and the other part is spanner wrench used to loosen the clutch. An important note on these fan clutches: Once you have the fan clutch off DO NOT let it lay with the rear side of the fan pointing downward as the silicone fluid that provides the "clutch" action can drain into the bearing and cause the clutch not to work. Once you have the clutch off just lean the fan and clutch against something so it is standing upright just as it is when it's bolted to the water pump until you are ready to put it back on. Hope this helps you out a bit!

somehow you need to grab a part of the pulley to prevent it from turning.i dont know if you were aware that the fan and clutch do not unbolt byt unscrew like a nut the directin to remove is on the fan shroud. if you cant get the fan off take the pump off with the fan on it, it can be done just you will have to remove shroud with it.then wrestle with it on the bench

The fan shroud needs to be removed. I think there is a clip where you can seperate the bottom portion of the fan shroud to the top. Once the shroud has been removed everything is a piece of cake.

I am trying to remove the bolt for the fan clutch assembly on a 97 chevy blazer.

  1. 1 Remove the fan and clutch assembly from the fan's pulley. The assembly attaches to the pulley with several bolts on the circumference of the pulley. To remove the bolts, position an open-end wrench over each bolt and turn each bolt in a counterclockwise direction while grasping one of the fan's blades to prevent the fan from turning with the bolt.
  2. Step 2 Pull the fan and clutch assembly away from the engine, then lift the assembly out of the engine's compartment.
  3. Step 3 Remove the bolts which hold the fan to the clutch. The bolts are located on the back of the fan, and can be removed with a open-end wrench.
  4. Step 4 Place the fan and clutch assembly on a flat surface with the clutch facing up, then pull the clutch straight up to disengage it from the fan.
