If this is a factory GM lock, then your GM Dealer can provide you with any key once you provide him with the VIN number. The Ignition keys with the computer chip in them are quite expensive though. I've gone to scrap yards and taken a handful of keys and have been successful in finding one after 20 or so tries. Hope this helps.
Other than modifying the oil pan I can't see any major reason. You'll have to play with sensors and switches some. Check out faxonautoliterature, they list a couple manuals on swapping GM engines into almost any other GM for $24.95. Would probably be a BIG help. Hope this helps.
