I believe it's my alternator belt that is squealing. It does this when cold and when I tax the alt. ie: turn everything on. like rear defrost, headlights, heater fan. after the squealing stops you can hear a...

Check belt tensioner adjustment. Spray WD 40 on belts and pulleys and start. If no fix .it is most likely the rear bearings on the alt. before you buy a new one shoot some WD in the rear of the alt through the slits to the shaft. No fix take it to your local chain parts store and they will check it for free.

Fan belt keeps shredding on 2002 pontiac montana

check by hand all moving parts, alt,ps pump, water pump, idlers, any thing the belt touches, all should move freely and smoothly, with no noise or "floppiness". check tensioners or idlers for proper action. check belt for proper groove number, check for proper length, check for proper belt arrangement. had a taurus, once, belt could be installed 2 ways and look proper but one way ate belts and another didnt. when belt label was available, you couldnt miss but with a missing label it seemed that the mechanic would install it wrong but it looked right untill you ran it. so double check belt route.

Fuel pressure? Do you hear the fuel pump running? Read the codes to see if ECM is still alive. Do you have spark at the plugs? Remember all motors need 3 things to run air, fuel, and fire at the right time.

Replaced alt, belt & battery, battery light still comes on & off

Never was a belt problem. Not likely it was the battery. Now you have a new alt,it sounds, more like a bad ground connection or corroded cable, with too much resistance. If you have those replacement clamp-on cable ends, I would replace the cables. You really need to do a voltage drop test on, at least the battery cables. The alt is not sensing, it is charging correctly, in laymans terms.

Mazda 323 Fan Belt Noise

I have the same problem with my daughters '99 Protege es 1.8. I have replaced the belt no less than 7 times in 30k miles. It's been towed 3 of those times. Twice on rainy nights I have done road side service. Always the alternator belt. I have replaced the alternator and the water pump because I was told they may be locking up intermittently. The only thing that really made a improvement was pulling the crank pulley and sandblasting it. The rough surface drives the belt better. I got the idea from the alt. rebuild place I use, They sand blast the pulleys when they do their rebuilds. Now I get a note about every 2000 miles,"Dad my belt is singing again" and I grab the sockets and snug it up again. And yes I keep a new one in the trunk at all times. Lots of luck, CB
