2006 Chevy Cobalt LS rough idle

My 2006 Chevy Cobalt LS rough idles when slowing down or coming to a stop. The lights will dim and the A/C/heater will slow way down as well. I just changed the battery, and have since rechecked voltage level. It's going great. I've read that it may be a throttle body problem, as well as needing a top end engine clean and fuel filter change. Not sure what to go with, but I am a bit worried about using SeaFoam as I haven't used it before and I have also read that it can cause problems with the catylitic converter. Any ideas?

It sounds like your alternator is failing or your belt is slipping. Take your car to the parts store and have them check your alternator output. You might just need a belt... Seafoam is a good product but Techron works better, in my opinion.

I would recommend cleaning the throttle body with carburetor cleaner, remove the air inlet to the throttle body and try cleaning. After cleaning will be hard to start but should solve your issue

That is split year for fuel filters. If you have one then it's in the back by the fuel tank. It will up alittle in the center.
As far as the running rough; is there any codes in it?

SOURCE: 2001 Chevy venture intermittently running rough.

Check air filter. Check for any vacuum leaks. Check condition of plug wires. Were new plugs pre-gapped? If not, make sure the spark gap is correct for your vehicle.

Sounds like your battery is dead. Most batteries last about two to three years. I suspect maybe yours has a couple of dead cells. You will need a hydrometer a device we use to test each cell. When you pick one up at the parts store pry open the caps off of the top of the battery. Next squeeze and hold the bulb on the hydrometer and stick the meter into each opening in the battery and release and make a notation of where the little ball in the meter is located. This will tell you that you have one or more cells dead and the battery will need replacing. Good Luck.
