What are the codes 12, 34, and 42 on a pontiac sunbird LE 1990 with a 2.0?

Code 12 is normal and indicates comms with computer are ok.
Code 34 is either:
  • MAP Sensor [voltage low]
  • MAF Sensor
Code 42 is for the EST circuit

Code 34 and 51

Code 34 is for the MAP sensor voltage being low which means the sensor is unplugged or faulty. Code 51 is for a problem with the memory chip inside the computer.
If the engine computer is failing it could set the code 34 even if nothing is wrong with the MAP sensor.
The computer and MAP sensor would need to be checked out.

Symptoms of a bad map sensor on 93 cadillac fleetwood brougham

Well code 23 is a faulty signal from the manifold air temp sensor. The sensor is telling the computer the air temp in the intake is out of range compared to the other readings.
Code 26 is a quad driver problem inside the computer.
Code 34 is a MAP sensor signal saying the vacuum is high when it should be low compared to the other sensors.
They may be connected or separate issues. You could check the MAP with a vac gauge.
I would clear the codes and see which ones come back again.

I have a 2008 Pontiac GXP with an automatic transmission. I had the GM turbo boost kit installed adding approx. 30 HP. I am considering modifying the exhaust with the solo performance Mach and 3'' Cat -...

Your transmission should be ok you may notice different shift points in relationship of MPH to RPMs but the computer should eventually compansate for it.

You can find out at a part store by either asking somebody or looking through a Chiltons/Haynes book on your make, model, and year.
