SOURCE: Engine Control Unit(ECU)
The ECU is a Direct Link to the Onboard Computer. You may need to get the Computer Replaced or at Least have a Mechanic run a Diagnostics Check on it. The reason it is acting this way is Because you are just Clearing the Trouble Codes by removing the ECU for a while. It is still sending a Fatal Error after Driven for a While.

its a very common fault with the GDi engine, normally first shows a fault after 60k miles. Fault will also make the engine feel slightly juddery on occasions whilst cruising... either/both Accelerator body or Cam sensor are the usual culprit. Both can be rather expensive.

why does my evo 8 cut out after hard acceleration
if left on idle it is ok but after `few mins starts to almost die then picks up to 1500rpm and then back to normal

It could be something simple, or it could be items such as a bad wheel
speed sensor, a pinched wire, a loose connection, a defective EBCM, etc.
Also check fof some fault codes is stored there (scanner reader tool).
