My car is turning over but will not catch. the plugs and filter are fine.
The two main causes are no fuel and no spark. You need to check for fuel pressure to the engine. Joey, make sure the fuel pump is kicking on when you turn the key. You should hear a humming sound for a second or two. You also need to make sure you have fire in the ignition. You need a spark tester. There are many reasons a car wont start. If the engine is getting fuel, it may be spark plugs/coils, wires, distributor, dist cap, cam sensor, crank sensor. Your timing belt/chain may be broke. The ecm could be bad. You need to check all your wires and make sure everything is connected and there are no tears. Check the coil/spark wires. You can test the dist. cap by looking at it and making sure the contacts are there and there are no cracks. Make sue your rotor is turning when you crank the car. A Haynes Manual is a great guide for working on a vehicle. You can get them from a auto part store. Your best bet Joey, is getting a code reader and trying to get a code off your car. This may give you the location of the problem. If you can't, you just have to start checking them one by one. If you need anything, let me know. I am here to help in anyway I can. Thanks for choosing FixYa Joey.
