Fan stays on when car off

When I turn the car off and take the key out the air vent fan stays on and drains my battery. completely random...doesn't do it every day. sometimes takes car days to die, sometimes takes an hr to drain. in fall I sprayed wd40 into the keyhole and worked it around....it lasted a couple weeks with no problems. replaced ignition switch, problem still persists.

also, nothing else stays on in the car, only the air vent fan. brand new battery, alternator was checked.

I wont say that wont be the issue. But given that it is just the fan that stays on and usually an ignition switch shows a lot of other issues.

This is most likely a bad BCM. That is a body control module. They control all the inside aspects of the car much like the ECU controls the engine.

Testimonial: "does a bad bcm fit in somehow with spraying wd40 into the keyhole and it working better? the air fan shuts off much more and it dies much much less. I was thinking of replacing ignition cylinder and keys. my main key is kinda worn and my new key seems to work slightly better, if at all. thanks for your suggestion :)"

SOURCE: I have an 2001 galant

not sure these are related. battery light is due to alternator failure. Oil light is due to oil pump wear. The oil pump may work OK for a couple more years. Replace it if it gets much worse (if light comes on above 1000 rmp). The alternator must be replace now.

SOURCE: something is draining the battery lights & RADIO stAY ON AFTER IGNITION IS OFF

Check the connecter of you battery. There's a good chance your battery connecters are loose, or another problem with your battery connecters.

Have ln85 hilux won't start some time turn key and nothing. Have replaced starter motor, ignition switch and battery still the Same will randomly not start

There could be multiple issues here and it's hard to say without really looking/running numbers - is there power (lights/dash symbols/etc) when you turn the key? Or completely dead?

If completely dead, did you see a random brake light while driving? That could indicate a bad alternator. Does jumping it start her? If so, possible you have a parasitic draw in the system draining the battery.

Ground wires are important to check, also.

Off hand, without much data to work with, mass air flow sensors can cause a no start - try unplugging this and starting. You can also backprobe to test sensor and harness for ground. This may not throw a code right away.

I see "sometime," so if assuming a start at times and others not randomly - recheck ignition switch assembly wires, follow them and see if any are loose. A friend had this issue and found the ignition switch assembly wire coming from the alarm was loose.

No codes and random starting, I'd lean wiring. Maybe retrace your steps - it sounds like you tackled the more indicative issues already.

Internal fan will not stop working. I can turn it down to "one fan blade" on the display but not off. Is this part of the car make up or a wiring problem. I'm worried it could run the battery down.

The fan should stop when the ignition key is off. Otherwise this is a safety feature that vents the cab to lower carbon monoxide if there is a leak or you are idling in a traffic jam

Heat NOT blowing out ANY air consistently!!

Can be blower motor easy to test --remove it look for imbalance by spinning to check bearing smoothness / freeplay . Hook up ground then use inline fuse connector with lower than fuse panel ## number of fuse -- find power Eg .car battery -- be sure to ground then connect Fan to visually see it spin .. NOW if you have any type of electronic dash mounted controls for heat / air conditioning - most likely electrical issue is in it . you said blower motor does sometimes function - Test wires that plug in to it for power / find groung then probe by test light when in heat mode = switch to air cond mode if fan functions then problem in controls on dash .. if no test light reaction search wires for short or damage .. As FUNNY as it sounds I have pulled mouse nest out of GM heater fans - They access parked vehicle by drain hole inner fender well it drains water from wiper blade / heater vent area .

Air condition stays on when car is off draining battery

If you mean the interior fan stays on then there's probably a relay for the fan or a fan module that is bad or stuck at the contacts, causing a short to ground that shouldn't exist after turning the ignition off.
