Was the CEL on at all any time recently? Did it just completely shut off, or did the motor stumble and then die?

the reason your truck is shutting off is because one of your o2 censors is bad. had the same problem even got a diagnostic done ans showed no error.finally went to advance auto and asked someone who had the same problem. hope is works out

You need to get the codes from the theft deterrent module.Usually a B2960.This will help in the diagnosis of the problem.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Sounds like it is the EVAP and I think there is a TSB on this that the dealership should fix for you.

Driving about 75 mph on interstate and all the sudden engine light comes on and monitor says reducing power to engine. Temp gauge skyrockets and cant drive over 30 mph...?!?!

The temp overheat could have been a false readiing due to a leak or low coolant level in the degas bottle(coolant expansion tank). The overheat signal is what induced the reduced power setting from the computer. Have your degas bottle checked at a dealership or by a competent mechcanic.

Engine cuts off

this is a hard one to fiqure out unless the vehicle does not starty at all because you have distinguish if it is gas or spark. The distributer has a module that may be breaking down. You have to remove the Dist cap and rotor to get to the module. It has two screws that hold in place using 1/4 inch nut driver to remove it. You can take it to oriellys and they can test it to see if it is good or bad. If you have a check engine light on you can take the truck to auto zone to see what codes are in the system. They will do this for no charge.

Wont always start

Did anyone check the clutch interlock switch? It's possible the position is out of adjustment. My 2008 SRT4 is right at the bottom. If you don't push the clutch ALL the way down, it won't start.

2004 dodge durango engine shuts off while driving

I had this happen to me before. My battery had went out and I had put another in (didn't buy a new one-- it was holiday). It did this exact thing to me. The scary part is once, it was on the interstate going about 75 mph... didn't die but all gauges went to nothing. It turned out that the battery I was using didn't have enough cold cranking amps and was pulling down the alternator too much so the computer shut it down. The one time it didn't... it was because the RPH's were too high. Try checking the battery and alternator... make sure you have the right battery and have an alternator shop test your alternator if the battery is good.
