SOURCE: 2005 Ford E350 Cargo Van Diesel starting problems

These International engines can be difficult to diagnose without the proper tools; namely Ford's I.D.S., or Navistar's DLC.

As for the o-ring the dealer was hinting at, they may have meant the o-ring on the fuel injection pressure regulator. I have witnessed these leak and cause difficult or no starting. This component is located at the rear of the engine below the turbo exhaust supply tubes. A specialty socket is needed to replace it (35mm 12 point socket which resembles an O2 sensor socket), although replacement is most likely unnecessary considering that your vehicle does eventually start. If this were indeed the culprit, your engine would not start. There is a test port next to this regulator to test oil pressure (bolt with allen head relief). A high pressure gauge which reads greater than 5,000 psi is necessary to test at this port. When your engine doesn't start, try checking what the oil pressure is at this port. A minimum of 3,000 psi is needed for the engine to start and 5,000 psi is prefered

Other sources of this problem could be the intake air temperature sensor, oil temperature sensor, or wiring compromises. It's a shame the dealer didn't want to spend the time necessary to pinpoint your problem. So glad I'm out of that crooked industry.

SOURCE: 2000 ford super duty 7.3 diesel will not cold start

you need to have the engine coolant switch checked, since the computer relies solely on sensors, the ect tells the computer how cold or hot it is so the computer will make it a rich or lean mixture to start the engine,if it tells the computer that it is 75 degrees the computer will lean the mixture like starting a car in the winter without a choke.

How to bleed diselsystem on tucson

Hi Svei, Your vehicle uses a distributer type injector pump and has no bleeding facility on the pump. The way you bleed your system is from the filter housing combined lift pump. The housing may be damaged by high sulpher content in the fuel obtainable where you are, or a damaged seal. Replace thee filter, filling it as full as possible with clean diesel fuel before fitting. Once fitted pump until the press button feels firm and hard. Start engine and continue pumping until engine runs smoothly. If there is whitish smoke omitted, air is still present in the system. Make sure that all fuel pipes are in good condition and firmly fitted and that there are no cracks or loose fittings. Regards John

Ford focus tdci not starting and white smoke coming out of the exhaust

It is a clear case of the glow plugs malfunction. It had happened with my neighbor who tried to start his diesel focus one day.
Even jump starting with another battery didn't solve the starting problem.

You could also check the EGR valve for damages and if you want to save a couple of bucks, then go in for used parts for the focus from Good used Focus Stuff

I have Hyndia Tucson 2006 Deisel. I have a problem in it. This problem is smoke heavily (Black) and there is no intention of any force during press the accelerator.

mean there might be fuel leaking into the engine or the air to deisel ratio is and not atomised correctly. the main causes are normally is the air filter that isnt allowing air into the engine. Fuel filter can also be at fault not allowing enough fuel in or allowing to much in the engine sometimes. This causes the chamber to burn it out. Fuel injector if fualty could allow to much fuel or not enough. My personal suggestion would be to run fuel injector cleaner first, then change the air filter. If that doesn't fix it change the fuel filter. I would go the cheapest route first. Is is prolly something simple

depending on the condition of the old fuel in the tank you might still have a problem, what happens is over time alge will grow in the tank and destroy fuel. but if there is black smoke when cranking that means its real close to starting...
