This car has hydraulic lifters( tappets} therefore should not adjustment, you probably have a bad or weak lifter. But, in any case you have to remove the valve covers to make the adjustment. You will see the adjustable bolt on the rocker arm. rotate the engine until the valve is all the way to the top, [no tension on the valve spring] then place a feeler Gage in between the rocker arm and the valve stem, adjust the rocker arm until the feeler Gage is snug but not tight. Do this with each valve. Check the book for the correct Gage to use but I think it is a .018.

The thrust bearing is normally a part of a new clutch kit.Comprises pressure plate, clutch plate and thrust bearing. You will need to remove the gear box to change the bearing. The bearing basically slides onto the gearbox shaft. Recommend changing all three rather than just the beaing. You may want to get quotes from garages as dealers are expensive.

Lifters can be easily replaced but it may be something else that is the problem. The first thing to do is get the oil pressure checked. If it's in the mid to high 20's then that is low.. Also get a compression test done. If both are low then the engine is wearing out and you would be chasing good money after bad by fixing the lifters.
A heavier oil like 15W-40 or 20W50 should quiet them down. You could also try an additive like Lucas. If you don't want to spend any large amount of money on the car it may be time to consider replacing it. Hope this helps.
