I HAVE A FORD LASER 1.3 AND IT DOES NOT WANT TO GO INTO GEAR.. I HAVE TO PUT THE CLUTCH PEDAL FAR IN AGAINTS FLOOR BOARD AND THE CLUTCH IS LOOSE. DOES THE CLUTCH PEDAL HAVE BUSHES AND CAN THE PEDAL BE ADJUSTED.I DO NOT SEE ANY LEAKAGES.WHAT ELSE CAN BE DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM

Check your clutch fluid level, sometimes a seperate reservoir (drivers side on firewall), some clutch systems take fluid from the brake system (check brake fluid). If thats ok then the clutch slave may be failing.
If the clutch fluid is low refill it and check for leaks (or just wait till the symptom comes back). If it's happens often then theres a leak in the line or the slave somewhere.

hi the clutch on accent is hydraulic operation so if pedal is very low on disengaging clutch ? you may have a problem with the hydraulics 1st thing to check is fluid level? this is the reservoir that feeds both brakes and clutch but is seperaterated inside if fluid low? top up and bleed the slave cyl however if fluid low indicates a leak ? possibly slave cyl? if no loss of fluid ? then prob may be fault in the master cyl ? check fluid come back with any update please ps if this problem has just occured? check for leaks ?

If hydraulic actuated mechanism, loss of fluid, defective master cylinder or slave cylinder at the clutch. Missing pin or other part between slave cylinder and clutch arm. Loose or broken slave cylinder mounting. Missing pin or broken part between pedal and master cylinder. If mechanical linkage, look for broken components or missing pins at moving joints. If you tried to shift into gear with engine running, you may have damaged the transmission gears.

There are two types of clutch actuators. (Mechanical & Hydtraulic)
A. For mechanical type,- Check the clutch cable as
this could be cut from wear and tear. This is easy
to replace. You can find this connected to the
pedal and the clutch lever near the transmission.
B.For hydraulic operated - Check the level of the
hydraulic oil at the cylinder of the hydraulic
actuator under the hood. This actuator is
directly connected to the pushrod driven by the
pedal. If the actuator is leaking, you have buy
a repair kit (Hyraulic clutch repair kit for Ford
Ranger 1994 MOdel.) These items must be
repaired to activate your pedal.

Gears


Go to a more experienced repair shop, one that specializes in transmissions. Someone that says "maybe this, maybe that, I dunno" really doesn't know, and should be avoided at all cost.

Sounds like the clutch plate or pressure plate, or both, are either
1) worn out and need replacement, or (MORE LIKELY)
2) need a SIMPLE ADJUSTMENT.

Make sure you are depressing thew clutch pedal as far to the floor as you can when you are having this problem.

It is entirely possible your driver's seat is too far back, and you're just not "getting there" with that pedal.

Manual transmission wont go in gear


You have a clutch slave cylinder failure and the reservoir is empty. Replace the slave cylinder and bleed the air of the system after refilling the reservoir.

The clutch pedal seems to be very flopy and is not going into gear easily


Can be broken spring on the cluch pedal in side the car, that hold the pedal all the way back for full amount of brake fluid to the slave cylender, can be checked by pulling the pedal all the way up before steping it to the floor and putting in to gear or just look up under the daschbord on the pedal. Can allso be to little brake fluid in container. To check the master cylender rubber, step on the pedal putt in gear with engine running and wait with pedal all the way to the floor, if the rubber is gone the car wil start to go after some time (1/2-1 min or less) To check the slave cylender rubber will be dune the same way and working same way but it will be leaking out and on the floor.

1999 toyota rav4 wont go into first gear, i just repaced the clutch,clutch slave cylinder and clutch master clutch


Did you bleed the slave cylinder? Also, check pedal free play (about 1/2 inch) and pedal height (not sure on your Rav, you'll have to check with Toyota).
Only first gear, or difficulty going into all gears?

I am unable to put my 2001 Ford Escape xls into gear! When I push the clutch pedal down all the way to the Floor and try to enter a gear it will not go at all. I had issues with it in the morning it did...


that is your clutch pump/cable in not functioning. u need to check the fluid level (if your car using hydraulic clutch) or your clutch cable broke...

Clutch pedal sticks to the floor; the brake reservoir was low


I believe your pressure plate is broken and at a minimum will have to be replaced along with the clutch disk.

Height of Clutch Pedal


I assume it is a cable operated clutch. If so the adjustment is tightened so that there is about 1/2 to 1" of pedal travel to clutch operation, provided the gears can be selected smoothly.

Stuck clutch


The clutch has rusted to the flywheel drive the truck down the road you will have to start it in gear (1st) while driving push the clucth pedal to the floor and keep pushing up and down on the gas pedal to get the truck to rock forwards and backward the clutch should brake loose.

How to adjust clutch brake on a eaton 2800 series clutch which is installed in a 2004 sterling dump truck

"A good clutch adjustment begins by identifying the location of the bearing. It should be positioned 1/2" to 9/16" from the clutch brake."

"After the bearing is set, adjust the truck linkage to allow the clutch brake to squeeze a .010" feeler gauge between the bearing and clutch brake when the pedal is no more than 1" to 1.5" from the floor. Setting the clutch brake position too far from the floor reduces the stroke to the clutch and could cause release problems and reduce brake life.
All that remains is checking the free-pedal distance in the cab. With the pedal in the up position, there should be 1" to 3" of free pedal. The clutch is now adjusted correctly."
