The last one of these I saw the filter was in the tank. This is after checking the manual that said it was in the RH rear wheel arch.

SOURCE: My P38 Range Rover wont start

Hi Adam,

Bring your vehicle to an auto parts or battery store. Ask if they could perform a 'Load Check' on your battery. This not only checks the voltage, but also the amps, as if it were under the load of turning your engine.

It takes a few seconds and the results are pass or fail. Fail means it's time for a new battery. Pass means we need to look elsewhere.

Comment back the results.

Hope you find this to be very helpful
Mike

SOURCE: range rover p38 radiator removal info

Almost none of the above is necessary. If it's a petrol engine, remove the top fan cowl (clipped). Remove the fan and viscous coupling - undo the nut in the same direction that the fan rotates. Unclip and remove the remaining fan shroud. Disconnect the top and bottom radiator hoses. Undo one bolt either side near the bottom of the radiator. Lift the radiator out. I can pull mine out in about 5 minutes - I've done it a number of times..

It is normal, but if it remains on for more than one minute, verify your brake fluid level in the reservoir.

Range rover p38 problems

Go under the vehicle and check for broken exhaust pipe clamps or the pipe or muffler hitting on the undercarriage, check with the system heated up as it will expand up to 1 inch. Also you may need suspension bushings, they are pretty much done at about 100,000 mile mark.

Range rover p38 radiator removal info

First, remove the grille, then the top panel. Remove the viscous coupling and fan. Remove the top radiator mounts, Remove the coolant hoses and oil pipes, remove 4 bolts holding the A/C and intercooler/or PAS radiators (depending if yours is diesel or petrol.) then lift up and out the radiator. Fitting is reversal of removal.
Hope this helps
