Question about Cars & Trucks
Thanks but in addition to the ESP problem the vehicle had a tendency to pick speed with great difficulty, sometimes not moving at all and then suddenly bursting to life. That problem is no longer there so the work helped to an extent. He suggests we now take a look at the ABS and the tyre sensors. This problem started only after I got my brake pads replaced (by a different mechanic). Not only did they use the wrong make, I understand the sensors were not replaced correctly. I have also been told to replace the battery.

Its possible that right wheel speed sensor is dropping out early making the truck think that wheel is locking up. That will activate the ABS and let the brake go on the right wheel which will make the vehicle pull slightly left. The only way to know for sure is to watch the wheel speeds on a scanner and see which one is drpping out first and replacing that speed sensor/bearing assembly.

It sounds like you might be having a problem with your Electronic control module. Are the only codes coming up just for the sensor? Have you recently cleaned your engine or driven in very wet weather? If so, water could have gotten into your connections at the modules and causing odd codes. I hope this helps. Jay

I had a 2008 rav4 and within the first 10,000 I noticed this problem. Had the pads changed at 12, 22, 30, all free of charge from the dealer. Had the rotors replaced as well twice, the issue came up again & since it was a lease I threatened to sue and I was released from my term fee free. If you are having the same issue post here we need to open a dialogue. I'm sure many people have just paid for repairs without thinking it's an issue on the vehicle. Toyota will deny it until it's a media issue....
