Try clearing codes with hand held and let it relearn on its own ,you will have to drive it for awhile for relearn .it may not idle at first

you could put the pickup on a cylinder pressure test and see if you have a bad valve causing the engine to pop.
you could have a bad wire or spark plug.
the timming chain could of went off a cog on the timming sprokets causing to pop.
gettin to much gas could cause it to.

for better freeway mileage a low back pressure exhaust will help, also run tires at max pressure, this is around 45 PSI, in town there is little you can do.
