SOURCE: P0505 Code
First make sure that your wires to you iac(idle air control) motor are ok. Also that the pins in the connectors are not damaged. Most likeley you need to replace the iac motor and follow a relearn procedure for the pcm.(powertrain control module)
The iac is most likely stuck in the extented position causing it to starve for air. You have to hold your foot on the gas to keep the throttle plate open enough to let air by for the engine to run.

SOURCE: Car dies while driving
I think that your crank angle sensor failed. Is the check engine light on?? if so, scan it and get code. If the code is P0335, than you need new crank angle sensor. Nissan has been having some problems with those even on other Nissan products. (Altima, Pathfinder and so on) Good luck.

Our's did the same thing. We tried changing the fuel filter...nothing. Then, my father-in-law did some checking around and different mechanics told him the same thing....the DISTRIBUTOR. Apparently this is a fairly common problem with our '95 Altima's. We changed the very worn spark plugs then went to the NAPA store and ordered the distributor....$242.00 for the whole part. We got it the next morning, my father-in-law changed it and now the car is working like a charm!!!! It is an EASY fix...all you need is a screw driver!! GOOD LUCK!!

I recently experienced the same symptom with my '05 Murano and it was not a fuel problem. The dealer listed the cause as dry axle splines and replaced both front drive shaft assy's. Note that this was done as warranty with no cost incurred by me.
