Question about Chevrolet Cars & Trucks

Open Question

Wire harness i wrecked my 2000 silverado 1500. i found a 2003 parts truck, it was a suburban. it had the 5.3 and i had the 4.8 so i decided to switch motors too. i put the motor, ecm, entire dash assembly, pedals(because the 5.3 had electronic throtle control), and all the wiring that went with. my problem is that my trucks original wiring for the interior wont match up. abviously since it was a suburban that wire harness would have alot that i wouldnt need. can i just not plug some of it in? what about the airbags? my doors wont match up either. they are both male end plugs now to male end plugs from the new dash wiring. also will i need to get a new ecm from a silverado instead of the one from the suburban?

I have two trucks: a 2006 1500 without power seats and a 2003 with power seats. Can i put the power seat in the 2006? do the mounts match up? Is there electric already there?

The mounts will be the same however you may need to take part of the wire harness and switch it to the newer truck. Just make sure you follow the original hook up (maybe take some pix ) and just follow it back to the underside of the dash, this is providing that the wiring is not already there. Good luck, Dana

How to reset the change oil light on a 2003 chevy silverado

Information courtesy of synthetic-direct.ca
Chevrolet Suburban/GMC Yukon XL, 2000-05 Chevrolet GMC Trucks Silverado, Sierra, 1999-05 Chevrolet Venture 2000
Turn the ignition key to the RUN position. Fully push and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. If the CHANGE OIL SOON light flashes 2 times, the system is reset. However if the light comes on and stays on for 5 seconds, the system did not reset. Repeat the procedure if the system does not reset.
Best of luck.

Chevy silverado 1500 2003. For several months the fan has only worked on "5". Today, even when off it only blows high. I had to pull the fuse for the blower. Any ideas?

The blower resistor needs to be replaced, that is why your only have the highest setting working since the blower speed resistor's are being by past. The other thing that happened is since the blower is always on high, the high current most likely burnt out the blower relay and ir stuck in the close loop and needs to be replaced. pay attention to the wire harness, since it got hot enough to damage the relay, it may have damaged the wire harness to and fire may start due to a short. Good luck and hope this helps.

Wiring problems

Yes, but if you don't have a really good diagram for both, you will need to identify each function by trial & error, then remove wires in harness and put them in the right places in the harness plug Use original plug from old seat on new seat.Don't change anything in body harness.

Replace oxygen sensor on 2003 chevy silverado truck

it's not hard to change, kinda like a sparkplug with a wire permenantly attached, if you go to O'reilly's or Autozone they will loan you a special socket to take it off and install the new one, Generally most cars have two one before and one after the catylitic converter, make sure which one the code is telling you is bad. Also a cheap fix, many wrecking yards don't charge but 5 to ten bucks for a used one as opposed to a new one for 60.00 to 100.00, If you don't mind going out and removing it, You take a chance one getting a bad one but, you can always take it back and get another one
