Question about GMC Cars & Trucks
94 gmc 1500 5.7 engine Starts and idles like a new truck...put in forward or reverse, you may get 20 feet, maybe go half of a mile and bang, the voltmeter slams over to the left 8 - 9V and the engine stalls. Battery load tested, new alternator, charging fine. Suspect this condition ruined the old alternator. Researched and going to check and clean grounds. My 1st to 2nd gear shift solenoid is faulty, have to shift it like a manual. Read someplace that this could be shorting out in the transmission pan? If it was a dead short in wiring would it not blow a fuse? Thanks

Here is some possible reasons why your transmission is having those problems .
* The gear shift linkage is binding
* There is an internal problem in the transmission
* The throttle cable is broken or disconnected
* The vacuum modulator on the transmission is faulty or the vacuum line is damaged
* The electronic transmission control circuit may be faulty
