Alignment has alot to do with the tires not shimmying.. Like zero toe setting. Loose componants like tie rod ends and the idler ar worn. You can ck for excess front end play by holding the front and back of the wheel and pushing and pulling on it, like rocking it. OR have someone rock the steering while you watch where the play is from underneath. By rocking I mean turn the steering wheel back and forth. Look at all th joints and pivot points for excess play, which is, movement not immediate to the rest of the steering system. Tire balance is very important. Wheel hop is a sign of a bad tire and it overtaxes the shock absorber. Shocks don't cause shimmy because they are a vertical movement controlA shimmy is lateral or side to side.Wheel balance weights must be spit. If a 2 oz. weight is needed to balance the tire, Oe once should be on the inside of the wheel and one ounce on the outside directly across from each outher.. Loose wheel brgs will cause shimmy, but they would not last long. Caster setting on the wheel alignment will also cause shimmy. Like on a shopping car. too much caster causes the wheel to start fluttering and is very hard on other componants. This may be why you have worn tie rod ends and a bad pitman arm. Worn control arm bushings and ball joints directly affect titre wear and can only be feltwhen the front end hits a dip and detected by side wear on the tire edges. Summary: replace the tie rod end and have the car aligned. Good Luck, -Ned_ sorry about the book

SOURCE: I have front end vibration

I would suggest going to a local shop and asking that they balance your wheels. It should take about half an hour and should cost less than $30.

It is possible that one of your wheels has lost a weight that had been installed when you had your tires mounted. This is common.

Unbalanced wheels are the cause of 90% of vibrations that we come across in our shop.

Vibration at 45 quits at 55

This could be a number of problems.... First one of your tires could be unbalanced(any tire shop should be able to fix that for a small fee). Second, Shocks could be bad and need replacing. After that you have all kind of bushings in the front end that could be worn out, but I would start with tire balancing and shocks.

Good luck

94 jeep grand cherokee front end vibration

Many things will cause vibrations, especially on 4WD trucks. Causes include: worn ball joints, worn tie rod ends, bent wheels, tires out of balance/shifted belt in tire, worn steering dampener, worn u-joints, worn CV joints, engine problems such as engine misfire, a bad fuel injector clogged fuel filter or injectors, worn ignition parts, etc. I suggest you apply the service brake in gear and give it a lot of throttle (power-brake)to determine if the engine is running smoothly or if it runs rough. Also, with the hood up, you can see the shaking if it occurs. If rough, check everything over and repair as necessary. If smooth, start checking ALL other vehicle systems and repair as necessary.

During highway driving, my 2005 Ford Excursion Diesel seems to vibrate intermittently @ 2000 RPMs and speeds between 62 - 75 MPH. I can accelerate through the vibration or keep RPMs below 2000 to...

I would first check the u-joints on the driveshaft if the problem only happens when the speed is between 62-75mph. Then check all the tires for lumps or bulgesin the sidewall or tread surface. The tires may also be out of balance and bouncing at that speed. If the vibration occurs only when the engine is around 2000rpm, check the pulleys, serpentine belt and anything driven by it for looseness. Also, check the trans mount to see if it is loose or broken. If everything checks out ok, have the OBD codes checked to see if anything might be causing the engine to surge.

What could cause vibration in the right front end of car?

it all depends on the speed and what u are doing at the time the vibration occurrs, if during braking you have warped brake rotors, if at higher speeds tire balance, at low speeds front end wear. Any tire shop will road test and give u an idea of the cost to repair in most cases free of charge.

Front wheels and steering wheel shake while driving

If you get a bad vibration in your steering wheel at low speeds without braking it is either a bad tire or a bad rim. If you get a vibration at speeds around 45-50+ and goes away you probably have a balance issue. If the vibration only occurs while braking then your rotors are warped. If low speeds it shakes i'd take it to a shop to check your tires.

The whole front of my expedition vibrates when i push on the gas

it can be a motor mount. when the vibration occurs shift into N and then if it stops then it is your transmission. it could also be loose lug nuts, a bad wheel bearing, tie rod. or something else in the suspension.

I have front end vibration that is not caused by alignment. New tires on all four wheels but still have alot of front end vibration. Car is a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon. this information is helpful but not...

Hope I can help...but you have conflicting symptoms. IE... front end vibration but no shimmy in steering wheel?
Let me tell you this: If you feel the vibration when cruising(no brake & not accellerating) @ 60-70 mph; then 95% of the time it is in the tire/wheel/balance combination. (I know you said they were new but could still be out-of-round)
