Question about 2012 GMC Yukon SLE 4dr SUV 5.3L V8 FFV 6-speed Automatic
Have the batter load tested as there may be a faulty bridge inside the battery. Never jump start from any point other that the battery post positive with the negative cable attached to the engine If you continue to jump the way you described then sooner or later you will cause a power surge which will fry the CPU.. Check all cables are shiny clean and tight all the way from the battery posts to the starter.

You need to replace cluster, 99-02 Silverado GMC all will work even if it has a trans temp truck is pre wired for it. I put a 02 Denali cluster in my 01 silverado no problems. GM can reprogram hours and odometer if you want.

My guess would be the anti theft security system. When this system starts to fail, it turns off the starter from the ignition. The fact that you can hard start it proves this.
