It could be a leaking heater hose as usually the cooling system is at the front of the engine.

My 2001 Plymouth leaks coolant got to add bout twice a week been doing it 2 weeks now it doesn't run hot is it the water pump going out

check the engine for where the water is leaking. I had an engine leaking at the back side and it was corroded
Welsh plugs in the engine. If it was the water pump water it would be leaking out the water pump. Check Hoses with engine hot . Also check exhaust pipe is not blowing steam out from a blown head gasket.

My 2003 regal is running hot and slowly leaking all the coolant out. Can anybody tell me what the problem is?

Yes, you are running hot from leaking all your coolant out. No one can tell you where it is leaking without looking at it. Could be a hose leaking, the radiator, a bad head gasket or intake gasket, the water pump...if coolant is leaking from the front of the engine, that could be the water pump or radiator hose or a water pump gasket. Pretty common for the water pump to leak when it is worn out, that's how you know when to change it.

When you fill the radiator and overflow tank back up to full, does the engine still run hot? If it does, I would not advise running it-have a shop diagnose it before more serious damage occurs. Head gasket repairs can get very expensive-that is the danger you are facing, and if the head gasket has already gone bad from overheating, continued running of the engine can cause you to have to replace the engine. Overheating is a major cause of early engine failure.

Try to determine where the leak is, from where it drips off the engine. The coolant constantly circulates from the engine to the radiator and back into the engine. The heater hoses circulate coolant from the engine to the heater core in the heater case and back into the engine. Besides the overflow tank, these are the only places coolant would be on the car. The engine can leak coolant from a lot of places, but if leaking to the outside, you should be able to spot where it is coming from. Good luck.

What causes water blow back in 1999 4.7 grand cherokee after starting

Sound like a head gasket is leaking. The coolant is leaking from the water jacket through the failed gasket in to the engine crankcase. The "blow back" is caused by the combustion inside the cylinder to leak into the water jacket, pressurizing it.
Drain the oil immediately and do not attempt to run the engine until you have the gasket replaced. Water in the oil will destroy the engine beyond repair.

Overheating and leaking water from back of engine compartment

You should be able to trace the heater hose from the Firewall back to the engine. That is one possibilty. Sometimes depending on how water circulates in an engine, the intake manifold can distribute water and a leaking gasket will let the water out.

There are tools which can be borrowed from an Autoparts store for a returnable deposit. You would want a Radiator pressure tester which will alow you to test the engine when it is cold and force water out of the leak.

97 Buick skylark w/3100 v6 engine has a water leak from the back right side of the engine after it warms up. The hoses from the engine to the heater core that I thought were the problem are fine. Water...

is it water or coolant, and do you have water in the radiator or antifreeze, i asume you have coolant so the leak is water then it coming from the heater box which is normal, the water is condensation from a/c so if the a/c is on or defrost you will get water drain out this is normal operation.hope this is helpful.

I have a water leak on top of the engine, what part could it that be?

can you see water leaking out of the engine or you find evidence of water on the engine?

if the latter you may have a leak in your water cooling system somwhere and the steam is rising in the engine compartment and cooling on the hood turning back to water and landing on the engine this giving the impression that there is a leak there.
or it may be just humidity doing the same thing and you do not have any leak.

look for spots of water on the ground and note if your radiator is getting low. (water on the ground may be moisure from your AC this is normal )

also suspect a leak in your windshied washer these are situated in the hood so when they operate if they leak they leak straight down onto the engine. check their pipes for any leaks.

Engine running hot, water leaking out of engine

The leak can be coming from anywhere there is coolant in the system. the most common place for a leak on those engines is the water pump, Fallowed by the heater by pass hose. Sometimes the hose falls out of its holder and the fan rubs a hole in it.
You will need to find the leak and report back so we can try and assist you on the repair.
