Remove the door panel, that is the part you have next to left arm when setting in seat. Look for screws holding it on. do you have a door panel tool ? If no you need one, pick it up at a parts store also the CHILTON repair manual for your year make and model, they are great at helping you not to break the door panel and do it correctly. I hope this is a big help, lee.

SOURCE: Can't find the fuse box for a 96 Monte Carlo

The fuse box is located on the passenger side panel of the dash . you have to open the passanger door to get at it.

The other fuse boxes are under the hood, on each side under a diagonal support arm that has to be removed to get at the fuses & relays

SOURCE: I need instructions on replacing driver side rear

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door

Open the driver's side door and locate the Monte Carlo's Data Link Connection. The DLC is the gateway to all of the Monte Carlo' s diagnostic system. It will either be black or gray in color and has 16 receiving slots. It will be in the general vicinity of the left kick panel beneath the dash.

Driver side door on '95 monte carlo will not latch/shut. I live in central MN, last night was cold, windy, advisories were out ...i dont believe there is anything in way, just seem like door isnt lining up...

TRY SPRAYING SOME WD-40 ON THE LATCH! MN DOES GET EXTREMELY COLD IN THE WINTER! MOISTURE CAN GET IN THE LATCHES, AND CAUSE THEM TO STICK! IT IS RECOMMENDED TO SPRAY A LUBRICANT LIKE WD-40 IN ALL LATCHES (I.E. HOOD, DOORS, AND TRUNK, TO KEEP THEM FREE OF RUST, AND DEBRIS!

Grab the handle and open it, as you are holding it open take a screwdriver and release the latch on the door jam. It releases in a counter clock wise motion On the drivers side and opposite on the passenger side.

87 monte carlo 2-door drivers side door will only open from the inside not the ouside

The linkage rod has fallen off. You will need to remove the inside door card and put the rod back in place. Be sure to check the plastic clip that holds it in place is not broken.

Drivers side door wont shut. how do you replace the part that latches

Before you go about changing the latch, make sure that the latch is fully open. This can be done by pulling the latch teeth inward towards the drivers seat with a screwdriver, while releasing the door opener handle at the same time. Often these large heavier doors become out of alignment at the hinge side causing the latch to close prematurely. If you are able to accomplish this task, lubricate the entire latch with white spray lithium grease. Keep in mind that the latch has two settings. The first is to catch the door(for safety) and the second is to secure the door. Thank you, Dana

Driver side door will not close may be a broken bolt how do i fix this

Seems as though your door latch may have closed without having the door closed.

1. Use a screw driver of any kind to simulate the door latch pin. Stick this into the latch and put a small amount of tension on the latch pulling it to the inside of the car and actuate the door handle.

What you are trying to do is get the latch to move to it open door position. It might help to look at one of the other doors latches with the door open so you can better see this demonstrated and compare with your malfunctioning door.

If this all works out - make sure you take the time to lubricate the door latch assembly to prevent future problems of this sort..

How may i fix my door handle for a 1997 monte carlo..the door opens from the outside but not the inside

Remove the inner panel and check to see if the linkage rod is connected. If not, the clip is broken or the rod popped out of it. (most common reason for your problem. Otherwise the latch assembly needs to be replaced.
