Pick-up coil

2002 express doesn't have a pickup coil - it has a camshaft sensor in the distributor, the crankshaft sensor is located in the lower corner of the front cover. Crank sensor is straight forward to replace, the Cam sensor you remove the dist cap and rotor - spin motor over until notch in the shaft lines up with cam sensor, remove bolts and slide up.

Ford focus 2002, 2 litres, what is the function of the pick up coil

The pick up coil is located at the base of the distributor and plugs into the ignition module. The pick up coil's purpose is to sense or "pick up" the pulses of the distributor and tell the ignition module when to fire the spark plugs. The most critical part of the replacement of the pick up coil is to make certain you properly mark the orientation of the distributor to the engine block and the rotor to the distributor base. When you successfully make these markings, you will not need to check your timing when this job is finished. Keeping this in mind, here we go: You will need to purchase a replacement pickup coil and a rubber o-ring gasket that will replace the o-ring located where the distributor shaft enters the engine before you start this project.

Car would be driving fine then just stop then start again and run, now it was running and stopped and wont start , replaced plugs, cap, rotter, coil but its not getting spark.

Sounds like an ignition module and/or a pickup coil. If there is injector pulse the pickup coil is working.

The ignition module is located on the side of the distibutor. The make a wrench that has both the socket and the torx bit all in one just to install one of these. The wrench should be available from the autoparts store you get the ignition module from. It will make install a lot easier.

Sometimes you have to rotate the distributor a little to get at the two bolts that hold the module to the distributor. Make sure you mark the location of the distributor before you rotate it so that you can but it back in exactly the same place.

Once the two bolts are removed gently push down on the module to disconnect it from the pick-up coil. Sometimes its nice to remove the cap to help line up the new one with the pick-up coil connector and make sure the pick-up coil connector is in tacked. It is not uncommon for them to crumble when replacing the module.

Where is the pickup coil located on 1997 dodge ram

he pick-up coil/stator assembly is located under the distributor cap, and once the distributor cap is removed from the distributor, just remove the ignition rotor, and then simply un-plug the wire connector to the the pick-up coil/stator and then lift it straight up and away from the distributor, and when re-installing the pick-up coil/stator be sure to align the square tab and the rounded tab on the pick-up coil/stator to match with the distributor housing and with the distributor cap and install the ignition rotor and the distributor cap, and then re-connect the wire connector to the pick-up coil/stator.

94 pontiac with 5.7L, wont start. Fuel and fire are there and a new computer, still won't start

These distributors are bad to have problems, where they are located, the pick up coil is the most likely problem, the pick up coil pulses the injectors,I assume this is your problem, spray starting fluid in the intake, and see if it hits,it will not run long,do not move accelerator ,just spray in a vacuum port where the fluid can **** threw to the cylinders,if it hits, then the pick up coil in the distributor is the problem.

1997 pick-up coil

Your pickup is on the bottom of your distributer under the cap. It looks kind of like a star. You will have to remove you cap, rotor and module to replace it.
