Question about 2008 Chrysler 300
My transmission will not shift to 3rd and slips out from 2nd but after getting back down to 25 or 20mph it will shift back into 2nd and after about 1 mile or so it gets stuck in 2nd. I used to have the lifetime warranty for the drivetrain but I forgot about the 5 year check up at a Chrysler dealer. It had been in the dealer 10 to 12 times for the exact same thing, but I do not know where the paper work is for those times. Maybe it's some kind of electrical deal. Also when it's in park, I can hear the sound as if I were pressing the brake to get out of park, from time to time.
Whether you have a copy or not, the dealer(s) should have it all on record. If they repaired(or tried) to repair it that many times without success, they certainly are required to stand by their work, and if they won't I'd contact chrysler owner relations dept in your manual and explain to them. Quite often if it's a legitimate complaint, Chrysler will contact a dealer and have you bring it in for evaluation and /or repair.

seems like an air-locked gas tank (remove gas cap as a test) or dirty fuel filter....

I've rebuilt hundreds of these transmissions through the years, typical parts lists range from solenoid blocks and TCM's to completely wiped out gear trains.Typical price for rebuilding that trans with new electricals included is any where from $2000-$3000 with a 12/12 or 36/36 warranty.

Low on transmission fluid. The tranny fluid can only be checked by Chrysler, there is no dip stick, because you have to know the motor temp to be able to know where the fluid should register on the dip stick. Crazy!
Its not slipping now, but shifts hard. Has to be looked at by Chrysler again, but its done this since Ive had it, so I didnt realize it was a problem....

It is your shifter assembly. Should be able to take the trim panel off and use something to press the bypass switch to get it out of park. I've seen a bunch of these go bad.

I assume that you have to press the brake pedal in order to shift from park (ie:safety switch) you might first check to see if you have brake lights as they should be on the same circut and operated by the same switch. If the lights dont work, check the fuses could be a simple fix. Hope this helps
