It depends on what the problem is. About all you can do these days is replace the plugs when it comes to a tune-up. Most everything is designed to go 75-100k before replacement.
A miss could be an ignition or fuel problem.

Idles rough aand checkengine light on, changed o2 sensor that was throwing the code and didnt fix

Well first, has the vehicle had a tune-up as of late? Second, if it has had a tune-up, then the possible culprit to rough idling is the Idle Air Control valve or IAC for short. Also, if your check engine light is still on, your still getting codes. What are the latest code(s)?

Ford explorer has a miss fire 4.6 v8 engine light flashing

Do a tune up. Spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor. It should fix it. If not then you may new a new ignition coil or module. But the basic tune up is a easy solution if its been awhile since its been done.

2001 f150 idles up and down, and missing?

This may be something relatively simple. There are a few things that can affect the way your engine runs. When was your last tune up? If it has been a while, i would bet that you probably need to do plugs, wires, cap, rotor and PCV valve. That fixes problems with missing most of the time. Also, your idle air control valve could be sticking, which affects the way the idle acts, and can make it feel as though the engine is missing. Other items of interest would be your MAF sensor, and fuel filter. These can also affect your idle. I'm leaning toward the tune up myself, but look into these things and let me know what you find. I'll do my best to help you troubleshoot and solve this problem. Good luck.

Rough idling on cold starts until the engine is

Very probably needs a general tune up to set the timing properly.

Missing problem

Check the wire pigtail that plugs into the coil pack. The plastic insulation around the four wires become hard and brittle, this can cause shorting and cross fires. Carefully pull the protective cover back to expose the four wires that go into the plug, check visually then bent the wires to see if they are flexible. If they are flexible and not brittle it is something else. Check out this link for detailed information and tests.
