Why would my Santa Fe transmission stop engaging

the indicated problem is that the torque converter clutch servo/solenoid has failed
Take it to an accredited professional auto transmission shop for a proper diagnosis and quote
it will be unlikely a box failure , but more like the TCM unit or wiring problem or solenoid failure

IF it is an auto then check the transmission oil level as you may have blown an oil line. If it is ok then have a pressure test done on the gear box to check for an internal problem. Run fault codes and look for a torque converter servo failure

I was driving today in my 2004 Ford Freestar van when all of a sudden the transmission stopped being engaged. I pulled over, no problem with the moter, but it would not slip back into drive reverse etc. No...

I have seen a problem with torque convertors on these vehicles, they will just all the sudden neutral out and that is it no noise no codes nothing... alot of times depending on the failure of the convertor just the convertor can be changed.... what usually happens is the splines inside of the convertor sheer off and once a new convertor is put in everything is back to normal.

Drive indicator light suddenly began flashing while driving, and at the same time transmission light and tcs light came on. what does this mean

Transmission is failing. There will be at least 1 error code retrieved by any competent transmission repair place indicating the type of failure(s). This is a common problem on Odysseys. It will have to be rebuilt costing anywhere from $2000 to $5000 depending on whom you take it to. The dealer is the most expensive. Average is around $4500 for dealer repair. Suggest a competent independent repair place (but not one of the franchises like Amco). Be sure you get a warranty - at least 1 year and check that the company will be around in a year.

Probably the wave spring washer which is a common failure on these transmissions. Check the pan for metal parts if this happens. You'll have to replace it if so, but make sure they use the updated, thicker washer (part # 2741A007).

Transmission failure

It sounds like what is controlling the trans, the TCM, is having problems, and you probably didn't need the first trans as I don't see too many problems with those trannies, just the electronics on them.

No reverse when engaged., slow to change gears when driving in drive,, i can here it takes longer to shift.

Most likely the "reaction shell" teeth are stripped. This is a common failure in the 4L60E. The transmission will need to be removed, and the reaction shell replaced. Any reputable transmission shop should be able to replace the reaction shell. They may advise you that your transmission needs to be rebuilt. Either way, it is somewhat of a costly repair.

All of a sudden wont go forward or rev .

Hello, The first thing to check is the transmission fluid level. When you check the fluid does it have a burnt smell? If so, you probably have an internal failure. Have you had the transmission serviced? Your trans filter may be stopped up.
I hope this helps.
