SOURCE: wont go into gear 97 lincoln continental

Unfortunately it sounds like your automatic transmission has suffered a catastrophic failure. But to be sure, allow your vehicle to warm up to normal operating temprature, pull the oil level dipstick for the transmission and check the level. It should be in the checker portion of the stick to be correct level. If it is not, adding fluid may help the condition temporarily. Check for leaks while the engine is running. Have Lincoln or transmission specialist have a look. When it comes to transmissions in general, it is best to let the pros handle it for youl

SOURCE: Mercedes after shifting to reverse to drive the 1st gear slips

mercedes did nothing wrong your transmission is probably blown up. no way they could put in the wrong parts they wouldn't fit. how many miles are on your trans now? did you ever do a transmission service on the transmission that mercedes says is lifetime fluid? dont do back to the dealer find an independant shop that specializes in mercedes, like the one i work for. the dealer doesnt care about its clients. Us independants honestly do care

SOURCE: the trac off, trac on light is on, along with the low tire pressu

trac on means your trac control is on and the same for off.The transmission problem can be several problems.check your fluid.(the only way to do this is to drain your transmission.it will take 6 qrts bone dry.Check your transmission filter.check your sensor in your air intake.if none of these fix your problem take it to a shop to see if tour transmission powerbands are bad you might need a new transmission.

My 2002 ford explorer sport trac is slipping gears and has no reverse. It will go in 1st and 2nd and shift into drive about 45 mph. what could be wrong?

It's worn out . How many miles on the vehicle ? Was the transmission ever replaced or rebuilt . Take it to a qualified transmission shop , that would be your best bet . They can hook up diagnostic equipment an know what's wrong in just a little time. Could have code's stored , shift solenoid problems . Thing's you won't be able to tell .

Jeep Liberty 4WD Problem

its fall. and 100s of posts every year on this, and nobody can read the manual.
nor can i guess if you bought Command Trac or select track
nor if driving on ICE or dirt.
you have command track, and must never be driving on ice free pavement, same as ww2 jeep that or CJs

this is called wind up, read the operators guide,
it tells you never to do that... in the guide,
there is no center differential in your car. zero.
so one tire must be on ice or dirt (sand/grass, gravel or ice)
see why

if you ignore this damage can happen see some now.
posted 100 times this.
you bought the wrong jeep, it seems. to me.....

called WINDED up. and puts huge forces on that poor chain,

http://www.rubicon-trail.com/4WD101/driveline-bind.html

stop and RTM.
as you turn the car, the tires roll at different speeds, so do the front and rear axles.
this force is huge.
and the driveline can not handle that.
on the SELECT trac, (not 4Low) there is a clutch
that slips or a real center differential.
but not on your car.

the first symptoms are bucking and jerking in turns
and noise (all bad) and gear lever sticks.
when fully wound up the gear dogs JAM hard.
i have a jeep TSB
that states
ok you wound it up.
jack up one tire. and shift back to 2H.
(yes, the least damaging way to correct this)
and damage on gear boxes is accumulative.

the false illusion is driving straight, in 4H
and its seems ok, (sure all 4 tires turning same speed sure...)
but not in turns.
but you tell me how you can drive all day going
straight. and what is the point of that>??>

google how to use part time 4wheel drive.
learn how it works and how not.

The reverse is going faster than forward

do you mean you have four reverse gears and only one forward gear or do you mean your rpms aren't going up as well in forward as in reverse

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Transmission problems. when the gear selector is in reverse, it doesn't engage in reverse. When you go to neutral, it drives forward but doesn't shift through the...

Put the vehicle in Park, disconnect the shifter from the shift lever on the trans, adjust the linkage or cable so the connection is clearly a slip in/on connection and tighten things back up. Hopefully this will solve your non-reverse. As for all the gunk and metal shavings, friend, you better have another tranny standing by in your garage when this one stops working completely.

Enginge shuts off when in reverse

Does it do it when putting the car in drive? It could be your lockup solenoid or possibly a bad torque converter. Please do not take my word for it, take it to a licensed ford mechanic (have it towed I should say)

Rearend noise on 2004 Ford Explorer Sport trac

what type of noise?
have you checked the fluid?

if its a grinding noise while driving it could be choppy tires carrier bearings or axle bearings.

if its a whine while accelerating or decelerating than it is pinion angle.

if you can safly get both rear tires off of the ground than start it and put it in gear, try to locate the exact location "center chunk or out far in axle tubes" make sure vehicle is secure and safe befor climbing underneath.
