If you are refering to a hydraulic clutch, there is a master cylinder similar to where you put brake fluid. you top it off the same as you would your brakes.

SOURCE: hydraulic pump automatic roof

I've done it 2 ways:
1st - loosen the pump assy - nuts on either end, then unscrew the plastic bottle. This is a pain unless your hands are the size of a baby's!
2nd - undo the nut on the side of the pump assy. (looks brass, from memory and is about a 13mm) and this uncovers a hole which leads into the top of the bottle. Then use a small hose and syringe to refill. This can get messy but was slightly easier than the first method.

SOURCE: 2001 saab 93 convertible top problem

If you lower the back seat you will see a plastic cover on the botom of the opening. Remove the cover (6 appolstry fasteners) to reveal a metal box. The box is not actually a box but a cover for the hydrolic pump. Remove the fscrews from the lid and lift. The resevouar is clear and easy to check against the two fill lines on the side.

2007 GT. Where do I check the hydraulic fluid?

Folding Top Fluid Addition
Caution: Refer to Eye Protection Caution in the Preface section.
Important:
?€¢
When servicing the hydraulic system do not allow the fluid level to drop below the minimum indicator line on the reservoir.

?€¢
Inspect the hydraulic fluid level with the vehicle parked on a level surface, the folding top in the closed position, and the stowage compartment lid open.

?€¢
When new, the power folding top hydraulic fluid is golden clear. As the system is cycled, it picks up the carbon black from the numerous O-ring seals used in the system. The carbon black acts like a dye and causes the fluid to darken considerably and take on a black appearance. This is a normal occurrence and no repair attempts should be performed, as replacement fluid will also darken.

Place a protective covering over the interior and the adjacent body panels. Locate the hydraulic pump in the folding top storage compartment area on the right side. Remove the rear quarter trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side . Place a shop towel around the pump motor to control any hydraulic fluid spillage.
Important: Wait 5 minutes before separating the hydraulic cylinder lines at any connectors.
Remove the reservoir filler plug. Add fluid GM P/N 88901975 or (Canadian P/N 88901976) ONLY, add the fluid until the level is at the middle of the indicator line on the reservoir.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Install the reservoir filler plug.
Folding Top Deck Lid Access
In the event that the rear compartment lid is inhibited from conventionally opening due to a folding top symptom, displaying a TOP NOT SECURE message or that the folding top operation can not complete the opening or closing sequence as it is inhibited by the rear compartment latch being ajar, displaying a TOP INOP-TRUNK message, follow the steps below to determine the specific Tech 2 Special Function to gain access.
Important: Allow the system a minimum of three minutes to bleed down pressure after the last cycle.

  1. Ignition On, engine OFF.
  2. Press and hold the folding top control switch. Verify the TOP INOP-TRUNK message does not appear in the driver information center (DIC).
  3. ?‡'
If the specified message is displayed, perform the TOP INOP-TRUNK Access procedure.

  4. Press and hold the folding top control switch. Verify the TOP NOT SECURED message does not appear in the DIC.
?‡'
If the specified message is displayed, perform the TOP NOT SECURED Access procedure

Power steering stiff on astra van 1.7 2008

I believe the power steering on your Astra van is an electrically operated hydraulic unit with a large fluid reservoir virtually on top of the steering gear?
If you have topped up the fluid enough for it to show on the little dipstick under the cap and the steering is stiffer towards one lock I would suspect a damaged steering gear but if the stiffness is uniform along the entire travel of the steering gear then the cause is probably low or non-existent hydraulic pressure.

The pumps do fail and need replacing sometimes and it isn't an easy job to do. I have not known one to stop suddenly because of pump or motor failure (but I have from electrical supply problems) and the only one I have needed to replace was very noisy. Usually the pump can't be heard above the noise of the engine.

With the aid of a wiring diagram and some small jumper leads the wiring can be disconnected from the pump and battery current supplied directly to the pump for the purpose of testing with out running the engine. If the pump can then be heard running and the steering is no longer stiff the problem is a fuse/wiring/electrical control type trouble and further investigation will be needed.

If the pump can't be heard running or the steering feels no better then the pump unit is probably faulty.

It would probably be wise to check the fuse first.
Good luck!

Holdern astra soft top stopped closing 2 inches from the end. Closed it manual. No obvious problems, just beeping when button is pushed. CAN I OPEN THE ROOF MANUALLY?

If you can close it manually with no obvious problems then opening it manually if there is no effort required should be ok. I would be checking the limiting position switch adjustment as that is what would be preventing from it closing all the way up

I HAVE A 1995 M B 500 SL THE SWITCH INDICATOR FOR THE TOP & ROLL BAR STAY IN A BLINKING POSITION. THE TOP, POWER WINDOWS AND ROLL BAR WILL NOT FUNCTION AT ALL... THANK YOU

The control module has set a fault and it will have to be reset. They are sensitive to voltage & must have 12 volts to operate properly.
The windows and top will need to be resync. I cannot find any information regarding the diagnostic procedure for the roof .. it states there is a procedure to diagnose the fault with the number of flashes the switch makes .. a dealer may be your best option on this fault .. I hope this helps some.
