SOURCE: hi guys, have citroen relay '08' plate 2.2 hdi. is the clutch hydrolic or cable? also struggling to get reverse gear, all others no problem at all. any ideas?

It is hydraulic. Are you engaging 2nd gear prior to reverse to slow gear motion and ease reverse effort? Is the engine idle speed with specs?

SOURCE: citroen Dispatch 2003 2.0Hdi wont rev beyond 3000. getting "secondary heating device" fault , and have renewed all heater plugs and pre post heat relay and repaired lots of chaffed wires in the plasti

right i think ignore the key reader coil as obviously its been disconnected or the chip has been tapped to the transponder which is a trick of mine to save money on expensive keys and dealer charges for programming ,now as for the problem here ?? well it could be multi problems caused by someone like myself from bypassing the immobilisor inside the computer by soldering the legs on the across between the collector and the emmitor ????? no more on that dont want no thieving boy racers knowing how to do things ,Right now iam most likely completely wrong here but i would renew the fly by wire unit on the throttle pedal end here for starters then see what happens .Why had all this before with a renault laguna showing all these funny codes and the owner spent well over a 1000 euros in the renault garage before it was taken to another dealer who changed the pedal sensor in half hour and it was cured. To me the secondary heating device would or could mean a heating element device inside the fuel pump and maybe one in the filter to stop the diesel from freezing ,now in my time we done this with a rag tied to a tyre lever dipped in the tank and then set alight to warm up the fuel lines and the glass primary filter, push the cold start device in on the inline injector pump, spray of easy start down the air filter and crank for no more than 20 seconds ,repeat twice and if no start then tow it around the yard with ford trader artic unit that we left inside the workshop .Memories ??

Citroen xantia electrics are shorting out

If it's an automatic, check if the lever is at P or N. Check if your car has immobilizer that needs you to enter codes before it will start. Gauges moving full scale usually indicates that the instruments cluster is 'missing' an additional IGN supply. When you turn your key to the ON position, all lights in the cluster will light up. This position will make the ignition switch supply 2 IGN power to most electrical systems. If one is missing, the car may not start. Check all fuses under the fascia and in the engine bay. Be on the look out for fuses that have melted 'seats'. They may give intermittent power. Xantia's fuse slots gets melted with age, so the fuse becomes loose and supply gets disconnected.

Where is the body ecu located

Engine ECU is located in the engine bay, on the driver side(RHD). Body electrical has no ECU (earlier models). Citroen Berlingo uses what is called 'Multifunction Control Modules'. It has 2 of them. One is located in the steering column switch assembly and the other is incorporated inside/underneath the fuse/relay frame in the engine bay. If your Xantia is late model, it may adopt the Berlingo system but I have not seen one that does.

Citroen Xantia fog and reversing lights not working

Check Fuse F3. It supplies 12v to the reverse switch located on the transmission. If auto transmission (4HP14) the switch will have 4 pins, 2 for reverse light, 2 for starting circuit. If manual, it has two pins. When gear is in other position, only one pin will have 12v. When gear is in R, both pins will have 12v. The 2nd pin supplies directly to the reversing light. Fog light has connectors behind the bumper. It tends to get corroded. Disconnect and clean both side of the connectors and retry. Some may get the wires snapped. Check there first. Fuse F18,F7 and F6 supplies 12v to the foglight circuit. F6 supplies to the foglight relay. Check the relay too.

Car wont rev

under the bonnet on the back of the mechanical pump there is a unit held in by 2 bolts
remove this unit and on the end there is a tiny filter
this will need cleaning because when the lift pump brakes down tiny parts of it get sucked up through the pipes and clog the filter
it may be best to feplace the fuel filter aswell

I think there is air trapped in the radiator. Remove the level semsor in on the radiator and make sure you fill the water from there first, fit it back and then remove the expansion tank and hold it higher in the air and make sure youget clear running water at the air bleeders. Cheers.

Citroen xantia fuel pump relay

If the pressure is up the pump will not cut in anyway! slacken off a fuel line to the injectors a little and drain a few cc of fuel out (it will evaporate fast) then try again, if the pump runs for a couple of seconds then look at the spark, if it doesnot the relay is above the fuses.
