check for voltage at the lamps themselves. If no voltage is present, check headlamp relay,.Rarely it could also be the multi-function switch, but don't go there first! Also, did you try a new bulb?(s)

It's probably unlikely that both bulbs would go out at the same time, but the first thing I would do is replace at least one of the bulbs with a new bulb.
If that's not the problem, there is a problem with the electrical circuit. There are relays that control the headlights, and the switch itself could have gone bad.

Hi, the likely problem is the combination switch/wand. The part costs $83 at autozone, but you may want to shop around. Instructions are pasted below the diagram. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa. Fig. Removal and installation of the turn signal switch To install:

SOURCE: 2008 chevy express high beams
Your dimmer switch (lever you pull to switch lights) is probably bad. Before you replace pull and visually insect all your fuses. Some late model GMs have separate fuses for hi beams and lo beams.

Are the bulbs good?
If your low and high beams are on the same bulb, then the low beam elements have blown even though the high beam still works, you need two new bulbs.
