SOURCE: dodge 3500 diesel lift pump

When the key is turned to the start position, the pump should run for about 20 seconds. Do this 3 or 4 times to prime the pump.

If it still doesn't start, the bad lift pump may have damaged the injection pump. Crack a fuel line loose (don't remove it) and turn the engine over, you should have fuel at the fitting.

SOURCE: ford fusion 1.4 tdci will not start unless the hand pump is used

HAVE YOU CHECKED THE FUEL LINES WHERE THE FUEL PRIMING PUMP IS CONNECTED FOR ANY CHAFFING THEY ARE COMMON FOR CHAFFING BESIDE THE FUEL FILTER WHICH WOULD EXPLAIN WHY FUEL IS RETURNING TO FUEL TANK.

I have MAN TGS 33-360 with hard starting. It operate with no problems until it is switched off. Then have to pump lift pump in order for it to start. No fault codes

if you have to pump lift pump that indicates a loss of pressure in the system to the pump/in the pump
check for fuel leaks and faulty non return valve in the pump
take it to a service dealer or an accredited diesel shop

My 6.9 liter ford diesel is making a loud ticking sound. sound like a lifter but louder. started doing this after a cold start. temp was ten degrees.

either is one of the fuel injectors not properly working or a valve lifter do not get the enough oil pressure to push the valve. for the injector to confirm the fault just get the correct size open end spanner and loose one after the other to confirm the faulty injector..

Have 1996 Ford F350 Diesel that will crank but will not start. Kind of like it is not getting any fuel? Help

crack on of the injector pipes and see if its got fuel coming up ,if no fuel then either no diesel in tank or the transfer pump has packed up and this year has the lift pump built into the pump so fitting a non return valve on the inlet and return sides will help if the valves in the pump are weak ,as close to the pump as possible does the trick ,also check for a perished or porous pipe on the inlet side of the pump ,look at the top of the fuel tank especially as this is the most obvious place they go as its not seen very often ,whatever the problem is its because its drawing in air

fit non return valves in both the feed and return pipes to hold the diesel pressure up ,then check and renew the glow plugs as necessary ,also fit a manula overide onto the heater circuit with a push button type switch inside the cab so heaters can be held on whilst cranking the engine this will cure it for sure

Bmw 325tds diesel flowing back to tank when parked

usual problem ,valves in injector worn for the fuel pump.easy quick fix this one ,fit a non return valve in the inlet pipe, check flow direction on valve when fitting and evan better as well is another in the bleed off return pipe .valves available from a motor factor or a specialist garage like bosch or lucas ,cut pipe and fit the valve with a piece of rubber pipe to connect the valve in line.or listen to the people who want to milk the golden cow and have the whole injector pump overhauled .
