if you have a sunroof, the sunroof drains are clogged. either way you may have a bad door switch. you will have to pull each one out and look for corrosion at the plug. the fronts are most common, they are on either side of the dashboard.

I have a 2000 camry and my car alarm only goes off while I'm at work all day long. Is it radio waves and it doesn't do it every day. It is the factory alarm and all the lights and horns go off. My boss is having a fit. What do I do?

Finally solved the problem!
Hope this might help all those people out there with intermittent sounding of their car alarm.
Renault Megan Convertible.
Having taken the car back and forth to my Renault dealer and being told that it would now be OK, it still kept intermittently going off after ten minutes when locking the car. Problem never showed up when I took it to the garage, at least the RAC man that came out on a few occasions heard the problem, and just advised me to take back to the garage.
Never had a problem when the roof was down so the garage kept looking for a fault on the interior sensors.
To cut this story short , It turns out to be that when I lock the car and have forgotten to take out my mobile phone (switched on) which I keep in the centre consol. 99% of the time I remember to take it out, thus the reason for the intermittent problem and the phone is always taken out when I take the car to the garage. If the phone is left on the floor or on the seat no problem, only when in the centre console. I also find it only happens when I am using my Blackberry with full data & Bluetooth enabled. It does not do this with my older mobile phone without data & Bluetooth.

SOURCE: Hi there,
can you check under hood, there is a fuse box, remove fuse box lid, inside is printed names of circuits if you have an alarm circuit , remove that fuse, then check if car starts and runs, if so, alarm is disabled.

when the hood is "open"you cannot set the alarm so it will go off as it thinks someone is trying to steal it.make sure both catches are operating correctly,a bmw dealer will (should)do the job for nothing(goodwill)my wife always asks nicely......ours is a 1987 3 series coupe...with full dealer history.
