Check for proper fluid level.

If it is in the normal range, you may need a new vacuum module or a new torque converter.

Shifting high rpm

Follow cable/linkage from throttle body to transmission for kickdown and make sure it is well lubricated and moving freely at all points, especially at transmission . Patially seized or stuck will cause it to hang up like you are accelerating and trying to pass.

It winds up in 1st and then shifts right from 1st into 3rd. Then never shifts into 4th. Plus rev is gone. You broke the sun shell. The transmission will need to rebuilt or replaced.

Engine gets to a high RPM before it shifts

check all vacuum starting at the pump on these mpodels and see if you are getting around 29" of vacuum. if you are not this is your issue. it sounds like it is doing it mechanically and not assisted. this is a very good way to destroy your transmission. it is very possible that you have a leak somewhere else in the system causing a vacuum leak. i am guessing all your door locks do not work.email me at iambanshee74@yahoo.com

This is the typical transmission failure on these. You need a rebuild. The 3/4 gears clutches are burnt up.

Hi I am Vortash sounds like Torque slip check your fluid levels in the transmission. Rpm will rise if there is weak drive then as the vehicle reaches change speed it will snatch because the rpm is high .. if your levels are ok you may need to get your Torque converter checked out .. hope this helps regards Vortash

Transmission shifts at to high RPM

You can "tighten - up" the shift points by installing a chip or aftermarket exaust, even B&M sells a simple solution for slipping transmissions in a bottle. Otherwise not without a rebuild and or reprogramming.
