Some times it shifts just fine then others it wont shift into over drive
Could be a problem with your converter or transmission. i would reccomend taking it to aa reputable transmission repair shop

You don't have torque converter shudder. You don't even mention that in your original post! You def had a solenoid issue. My 94 STS did the same thing. I only had reverse, 1st and 2nd gear. Wouldn't shift outa 2nd period. It was a $200 solenoid repair. Car had a 160K on it when that happened. I have almost 170k on it now. Shifts and works fine. you don't need the tranny replaces ad josavv63 indicates.

it is going in limp mode,
if your speedometer is not working will cause this,that would be a speed sensor,or the other two reasons would be the input or output sensors on the tranny
