Check for blockages in the rubber hoses ( internal rubber failure). crushed steel lines under cab/chassis and blocked filters (especially the one at the fuel manifold inlet )

SOURCE: 1987 FORD FULL SIZE BRONCO FUEL PROBLEM, SHUTS DOWN

The only way air can get in the fuel line is if you have a hole in it! Problem of course is were? I would run the fuel line from back to front and back again. Look for any wet spot that you can find. You may even have to drop the tank to ba able to look on top. I would suspect the problem is in the line before the high preasure pump, being as you are pulling air into the system. I have seen leaky lines allow air in, but not let fuel out.

The catalytic converter may be fried. Very poor design of the restricted exaust ports.
And the fuel pumps are junk straight from the box. Around 94 Ford had to change the design of the fuel pumps.
I am not a mechanic but had the same issues.
I removed the catalytic converter and get the inspection done by a freind.
Your alternative is to change the entire exaust system to say a "Banks". Which is about $3000 for the paRTS.

Does my 2000 ford expidition have a little compartment to replace my fuel pump.

Fuel Pump Module-in tank, no compartment to replace fuel pump Removal & Installation To Remove:
WARNING
Highly flammable mixtures are always present in any fuel related component. Smoking or carrying lighted tobacco or an open flame of any type may ignite the flammable mixtures.
WARNING
Even when the engine is not running, fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure. Fuel system pressure must be relieved before working on or disconnecting any of the fuel lines, fuel tubes, or fuel system components. Failure to do so may result in accidental spraying of fuel, personal injury, or a fire hazard.
  1. Remove Fuel Tank. Fuel Pump ford-05-00-3947.gif

I need a manual for a 83-84 ford f150 pick up, as i need to posibbly replace the fuel pump , where can i d/l a free manual ?

Ford Pick-Ups/Bronco 1976-1986 Repair Guide
Electric Fuel Pump - Removal & Installation

Two electric pumps are used on fuel injected models; a low pressure boost pump mounted in the fuel tank and a high pressure pump mounted on the vehicle frame. Some models equipped with the 8-460 (7.5L) carbureted engines use a single low pressure pump mounted in the fuel tank.On injected models the low pressure pump is used to provide pressurized fuel to the inlet of the high pressure pump and helps prevent noise and heating problems. The externally mounted high pressure pump is capable of supplying 15.9 gallons of fuel an hour. System pressure is controlled by a pressure regulator mounted on the engine.
With internal fuel tank mounted pumps tank removal is required when servicing the pump. Frame mounted models can be accessed from under the vehicle. Prior to servicing release system pressure (see Fuel Supply Manifold details). Disconnect the negative battery cable prior to pump removal.

More details can find in autozone.com (free register); select the year, make, model and engine.

I hope help you with this (remember rated this help) Good luck.

Locatation of fuel pump 82 ford f-250. 460 engine

Actually, even in 1982 Ford produced fuel injected vehicles. They used electric pumps, rarther than the mechanical one r_clark is referring to. So, the question is, is it fuel injected, or is it carbureted? If it's carubureted, r_clark is correct. The timing cover is on the front of the motor as you are facing it. If you look behind the large main pulley at the bottom front of the motor you'll see an oval shaped cover. That metal oval cover is the timing chain cover. Look to the left of it, still facing the front of the engine and you should see the fuel pump if you have a carbureter. If, on the other hand you have throttle body injection, the Ford F250 uses two electric fuel pumps. One is a low pressure pump which is inside the fuel tank, the other is the high pressure pump which is mounted on the vehicle's frame. That one will normally be located just in front of the tank on the inside rail of the frame assembly. It looks like a large cylinder mounted on a bracket with wires going to it. If you see a cylinder that just has a fuel input and output line with no wires, that is an inline filter, not the pump.

Also, keep in mind if you are asking about the pump because you are not getting fuel, you might want to check to see if you have a large canister style filter down there on the frame. If that's plugged, you won't get adequate fuel!
