To take the broken bolt out your going to need a tap and dye kit you can get one at pretty much any auto parts store

The tensioner pully bracket broke to the alt/pwr steering belt. it made of cast aluminum. is this a replaceabe part? if not can it be welded? or fixed at all?


Yes it is a replaceable part. Just get the whole tensioner pulley assembly from the junkyard, its held on by 3 bolts and bolts into the timing cover.

Remove water pump


Disconnect battery earth lead. Do not turn crankshaft or camshaft whn timing beld removed. Remove spark plugs to ease turning engine. Turn engine in normal direction of rotation (unless otherwise stated) Do not turn engine via camshaft or other sprockets. Observe all tightening torques. Remove engine, remve RH engine mounting. Remove auxiliary drive belts, water pump pulley, crankshaft pulley, timing belt upper cover, timing belt lower cover. Turn crankshaft clockwise to TDC on No. 1 cylinder, slacken tensioner bolts 5 & 6. Move tensioner away from belt and lightly tighten bolts. Remove timing belt. Remove water pump and replace with new one. Suggest to replace cambelt as well.
Installation
Ensure timing marks aligned3 & 4. Fit timing belt in anti-clockwise direction, standing at crankshaft sprocket. Ensure belt is taut between sprockets on non-tensioned side. Slacken tensioner bolt 5. slacken tensioner bolt 6. Allow tensioner to operate. Tighten tensioner bolt 6. Tighten tensioner bolt 5. Turn crankshaft on turn clockwise. Ensure crankshaft sprocket timing marks aligned 4.
Slacken tensioner bolt 5. Slacken tensioner bolt 6. Allow tensioner to operate. Tighten tensioner 6. Tighten torque: 20 - 26 Nm. Tighten tensioner bolt 5. tighten torque: 20 - 26 Nm. Apply thumb pressure to belt at middle. Approximately 5kg. Belt should deflect to 1/4 of tensioner bolt head width 7. Belt tention can also be set using burroghs (BT-33-73F) tension gauge 10 at middle. Turn crankshaft 90 ° anti clockwise. Check belt tension is 9.5 16,5kg (engine must be cold). Install components in reverse order of removal. Fit cranckshaft pully. Tighten crankshaft pully bolts 8. G4-J: Tightening torque: 12-15Nm.
G4-N/G4-k: Tightening torque: 10-12Nm
G4EA: Tighten crankshaft pully bolt 9. Tighten torque: 140-150Nm.

How do you adjust tension for drive belt


first you need to figure out if you have an automatic tensioner or an adjustable one. so look at the pullies which ones are not accesories (ie not an alternator pully, power steering.) some pullies will just be on there own not driving anything. is this pully connected to something like this O>o <--this end is the pully.
pully mounting bolt ^ ^arm with hole for rachet
or does it look like the pully is attached to a threaded pole.

the auto adjuster need a rachet to pull back on it (because it's spring loaded) while you install the new belt.

the other need the nut on the pully loosened and the threaded pole loosened will move the pully removing tension from the belt (opposite will tension the new belt).

tighten belt until you can only twist it in half.

was this the bolt in center of the tensioner pulley? if so you will need to remove and replace the tensioner assembly, if not which bolt did you break?

Tension pulley needs to be replaced


there is only one bolt holding the pully on, should be easy to replace, remove overflow tank and washer tank for easy access.

Tension pulley has fallen off and needs replacing


The tension pully should be accessable from the top of the fender. If one of th bolts broke, then an easy out will have to be utilized to remove the old bolt . Yes it could be wear and tear that makes this happen.

well i take it the belt is off allready teh should only be one bolt 15mm if i remember right remove this bolt and the tensioner should come off.

Serpentine belt replacement


you can loosen also the nut at the center of the pully. this nut holds the pulley tight. the long bolt that pulls the clamp is just the tensioner but what holds the pulley is the nut at it's center.
