Allison tranny issue

Truck cold soaked outside air temp 20f. Started, put in dive and left parking lot. Soon after put in 4wd while stopped, went to go and nothing, truck acted like it was in neutral and D gear selector indicator was flashing, check engine light illuminated. Was able to make it to a parking lot where I let the engine really warm up. Eventually things started working normally and drove home. Next morning same issue and eventually normalized. Took it to dealership for diagnostics. They found codes P0711, P0713, P0841. Tried to drive later and wouldn't shift out of 1st gear. Also during malfunction shifting into drive was clunky. Seems cold weather may have had something to do with it. thx

Have the 5th gear trans solenoid checked out at a trans shop. They can listen to what your problem is and also a test drive will pinpoint the troblem much better in person with a qualified transmission technician as well

This is a devious problem which could lie anywhere. So many things not functioning would perhaps be a ground problem. Maybe take some extra care in cleaning the battery terminals, check if the ground wire is connected to the chassis. Do you have rodents in your area? Maybe they nibbled some wire somewhere?

My 1997 f-150 truck transmission started to give me problems

It's a tranny problem the anti-freeze in the coolant destroyed the clutches in the tranny and all of the seals. This is a very bad problem the clutch material and the seals in that tranny are not made to stand up to the anti-freeze. The converter is less affected by because it not in the sealed housing of the tranny.

Cab Heater works sporatically

Alot of the new fords have small radiator leaks.  If the truck is low on coolant or running above 190 degrees the heater wont work.  Top off coolant and put in some radiator stop leak.  heater should start working now that the engine will run cooler

from what your desribing your truck shift linkage needs adjusting if it is not starting and this is happening i would first went to the safety nuetral switch mounted on the tranny by your shift lever it might not be lined up because of the shift adjustment try with somone helping you chalk the wheel have some one help you under your truck you should see a nut that holds your shifting arm to your tranny loosen have someone inside hold shift level up tight to get the play out make sure the lever arm on your tranny is all the way either forward or backward in the position it should be in for park retighten nut if the neutral switch is slightly off it will create no start condition good luck
