Is seems that the clock in the 2003-2008 Matrix and Carola is causing air bag problems for lots of people. If enough people report it, maybe they will issue a recall. It's easy to file a complaint online with NHTSA. Here's a link the the NHTSA complaint center: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/index.xhtml

Clock goes off

This is a common problem with the Matrix. It is most likely a fault with the clock module itself. It can be repaired for a reasonable price at www.subaru-clock.com

My digital clock/radio display is faded 2005 Pontiac Grand AM

the most common reason for this is because in side your radio there is tiny little light bulbs behind the main display that have blown..to repair this you need to remove the radio and replace the bulbs .hope this helps!

Replaced fuses in my 06 Matrix. Radio and clock are still dead.

The 15 amp dome fuse is in the fuse box under the hood and the 15 amp CIG fuse is in the lower finish panel up under the dash on the drivers side. These are needed for the radio. The above fuses and also the 15 amp Gauge fuse in the box with the dome fuse under the hood are needed for the clock.
So...since both are dead it is likely to be 1 of the first 2 fuses mentioned.

2006 Matrix XR Clock

The passenger airbag light keeps coming on, on my 2005 Matrix XR 4WD. I took it in to the local dealer and they said it was a problem with my clock assembly. $299 for the part and blah blah blah for the labor. I found the part (83910-02100) at http://www.partswebsite.com/pagetoyota/index.php?type=parts&start=1 for $224.95. It's still more than I want to pay, but a little cheaper.

Clock and Shifter Lights Not Working 2005 Toyota Matrix

I took my 05 matrix in to the dealership today because my srs airbag light had been coming on and off for the past month. After the dealership tried charging me $90.00 to diagnose the airbag problem(which i refused to pay and won) they gave me obd code B1660. I googled this code and came up with a website matrixowners.com(this site for some reason doesn't open) but on the preview it does show. "They found code B1660 CK SYSTEM and found a bad passenger air bag indicator which is part of the clock assembly. They want 3 bills plus labor for the clock. ..." my only conclusion is that I just figured out why my clock has been coming in and out for the past year or so. I suggest if you have this clock problem you should check your air bag system and don't pay the fee to diagnose the air bag system. Your car should not have a malfunction if the air bag system if it has never been involved in an accident or modified. It is a safety issue and the air bag system should have a lifetime warranty.

Clock not working

I offer a repair service for the clock itself; far cheaper than buying a new clock. Check it out at www.autoclockrepair.com
I'll look into how to remove the clock itself and post if I find the solution.
