The alternator is most likely the problem, it isn't putting out enough of amps to charge the battery, but enough to keep it going which won't last long. Before assuming the battery or alternator, try your battery connections for corrosion or tightness. If you live close to an auto parts store they can check the battery and alternator to see which is the problem. The battery will not hold up long if running lights at night or other power consuming things.

I don't know if there are any tricks. At this point you just have to wrestle it out. There seems to be a certain position that works but I don't remember exactly. I do know that gettting it out was easier than getting the new one back in.

Could be the motor or the blower motor resistors. I would go with the resistors first.

Up under the dash on the passenger side near the firewall. Remove the glovebox door, the cover under the dash - watch for the temperature sensor wires. The sensors twist out.
If you are removing the motor, you will have to pull back the carpeting to get the motor out - a very tight fit.

I replaced mine with an exact replacement...not sure what bracket you are talking about. In any case it was REALLY tough to get the new one back in. I had to pull the carpet out of the way and really work to find a way to get it in. It has to go in the way the old one came out.
