On a ford Escort there are only 2 fuse boxes, one is located on the driver side, under the instrument panel, and the other under the hood.

The fuse box that contains the rear lift gate module fuse is located under the rear seat. Lift the seat cushion and you will see the black fuse box cover.
Make sure you check #19 which is another lift gate module fuse.

The turn signal flasher is located under the dash to the right of the
steering column on most models. The hazard flasher is under the dash,
to the left of the steering column. On 1980 and later models, both the
turn signal flasher and the hazard flasher are located at the lower
left hand and the upper right hand corners of the fuse block
respectively. There is an inline fuse for the underhood/spotlamp
circuit. The fuse box is marked to indicate fuse size and the
