That's a service manual problem and only can get from a repair shop, if you have a connection, or the dealership.

All OBD Codes are on the internet with
print,charts,video,solutions

You Type your codes & read up

Study OBD 2 Systems also

OBD PO171
OBD PO174

I had to Google Cen Tech as i never heard of it

They appear to be inexpensive low end for sure

You won't get a lot of data out it

If your never planning on going to professional software,
consider the top scan/code reader type tools like Innova Professional or at least mid level Actron & a couple other brands

You really need to see sensors, emission monitors, so
your ready for inspection

You will only get Generic Codes from a code reader
not body functions likes abs,air conditioning, srs,& others

More data is better-- you will learn these systems as time goes by

They have been with us for 35 years now

OBD1 15 years
OBD2 20 years

P131 OBD II Code

Use Google

Type: 2005 Chevy OBD P131

Every thing you'll ever need about vehicles,
is all over the internet

Keep in mind, codes are not there, to tell you
to replace any parts

Codes guide to a system ----only----

From there you component test to find a problem

Only tested & failed parts get replaced & for a reason

Best if you have professional scan tool to work with
& road test with it

Sign in dash check engine.

This could be anything! I left the dealer tech game in '97,and hadn't had a check engine light in a long time. All the vehicles I have on the road right now are OBD II,so a code scanner is pretty much necessary to work on these.Harbor Freight tools has a Cen-Tech scanner for 50 bucks. It aint fancy, but it does read and clear codes(the book of codes it comes with only lists engine codes, but I have found it will read trans codes on my Chrysler products also)For 50 bucks,it'll pay for itself in 1 use(it's probably close to 100 bucks for a "diagnostic trouble check" at any shop)

I have a 2003 chevy silverado 5.3L my check engine light is on and Pep Boys did a smoke test on it and they said it was something on top of my fuel tank that was bad. Something about a sensor on the fuel...

Smoke test??? More like blowing smoke up your *%*&^%

Go to Advanced Auto Parts and have them check scan your OBD II memory for free. They`ll tell you why your Check Engine light is coming on.

My 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500 4x4 check engine light flashes randomly and different number of flashes each time like some sort of code is this posible?

It is misfiring. It likely needs a tune up. Have it scanned. This will tell you which cylinder is misfiring. Recommend replacing the plugs and wires

The most likely solution is to preform a crank relearn this must be done with a good scan tool such as snap on modis/solus OTC genisis or GM tech 2 a cheap scan tool CAN NOT preform this function. A crank relearn will renew the relationship with the computer and crank position sensor
