there is a harness that feeds the ignition remove your steering wheel cover and you will see about a dozen wires going into a clip that is attached to the back of the steering wheel , those wires give way and are not making contact reach in to the back and pull the harness forward and then try and push each wire back into the clip try this and see if it works it solved my problem basicly it is just a loose wire in the harness,,

just replace the ignition it is only about 25 dollars or so and it should not have a pats system for that year you must have the key to get the ignition out though do you have another key ... the key must be turned to get it out and back in you can drill the lock and then turn it so you can remove it but if you are not comfortable doing this call a locksmith.. much cheaper than a dealer

its not that had to replace the ignition switch, remove the steering wheel, u will need to buy a ighition removal tool, push plate down, remove plate and the switch will slide right out.. go to advanced auto parts and they will tell you all the tools you will need to replace the switch, and they have a loaner tool program, so just buy the tool and take it back and get your money back.. good luck keith...

Try turning the wheel in both directions with some force while turning the ignition. Sometimes the steering wheel is in a bind when the vehicle is parked and it makes the ignition lock cylinder "stick". WHen you relieve the pressure on the steering column you should be able to turn the key.

You should be able to move the wheel just a hair to unlock the ignition, It is binding up the lock. If that is not the problem, you have 3 locks on there that tie into the transmission, But they have nothing to do with the steering wheel lock, so try to move the wheel and turn the key at the same time, if you still have trouble, get back to me, I'll give you the rest. Hope this helps.
